Roman Reigns wins the majority of his WWE matches

5 WWE Superstars Roman Reigns squashed and 5 he faced for 25+ minutes

Unlike some WWE main-event Superstars, Roman Reigns has proven throughout his career that he can go toe-to-toe with some of the best in the business for a lengthy period of time.

Goldberg, for example, has made a career out of defeating his opponents in quick fashion, with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt being one of the most high-profile examples in recent years.

Roman Reigns, in contrast, is capable of producing 20-minute classics with WWE’s top Superstars, while he can also 'squash' opponents (in other words, pick up quick victories) when it makes sense from a storyline perspective.

In this article, using match times from Cagematch.net, let’s take a look at five WWE Superstars that Roman Reigns squashed and five that he faced for at least 25 minutes.

Roman Reigns’ four-month reign as United States Champion is hardly one of the highlights of his career, but at least it gave Rusev the opportunity to compete in a high-profile storyline again following his disappointing run with The League of Nations.

The two men fought at Clash of Champions and Hell in a Cell in 2016, with Roman Reigns winning on both occasions, but their longest match came on the post-Clash of Champions episode of RAW when they were both counted out in a match lasting 25 minutes and 34 seconds.

#9 Roman Reigns squashed Elias (10 seconds)

Roman Reigns usually competes in one of the longest matches of the night whenever he is involved on a WWE pay-per-view card, but that was not the case in 2019 when he fought Elias at the Money in the Bank event.

Prior to the match, Elias attacked his rival backstage with a guitar, which meant he had to perform with an electric guitar in front of the Hartford fans.

It looked as though the match could be canceled but Roman Reigns suddenly appeared on the ramp and hit his opponent with a Superman Punch. Both men then made their way to the ring, where “The Big Dog” won a 10-second match with a spear.

#8 Roman Reigns faced AJ Styles for 25+ minutes

AJ Styles burst onto the WWE scene in 2016 and feuded with big names including Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, John Cena and Dean Ambrose throughout the year.

Following his loss to Jericho at WrestleMania 32, “The Phenomenal One” unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship at the Payback and Extreme Rules pay-per-views.

Roman Reigns won both matches, with the first encounter lasting 25 minutes and 5 seconds.

#7 Roman Reigns squashed The Miz (3 minutes, 12 seconds)

Roman Reigns and The Miz had some competitive matches for the Intercontinental Championship in January 2018, but the same could not be said for their one-on-one meeting in the main event of SmackDown in August 2014.

Randy Orton, who lost to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam just a few days earlier, watched on from ringside as “The Big Dog” picked up a dominant victory over The Miz.

This main event was less about the match and more about the post-match brawl, which saw Orton slither away up the ramp after being on the receiving end of a Superman Punch.

#6 Roman Reigns faced Seth Rollins for 25+ minutes

After suffering a serious knee injury in November 2015, Seth Rollins’ first match back on WWE television in seven months saw him win the WWE Championship from Roman Reigns in the main event of Money in the Bank 2016. The match lasted 26 minutes, but the drama was not finished there.

Seconds later, Dean Ambrose raced down to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Rollins, meaning all three Shield members held the WWE Championship on the same night.

Two days after the match, WWE suspended Roman Reigns for violating the company’s Wellness Policy.

#5 Roman Reigns squashed Bo Dallas (2 minutes, 55 seconds)

Roman Reigns defeated Bray Wyatt in a Hell in a Cell match at the 2015 Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

Two weeks before the event, he was confronted by Bo Dallas on an episode of SmackDown. Dallas, Wyatt’s real-life brother, made fun of Roman Reigns and warned him that he could leave the PPV on a stretcher.

This led to a short match which saw Dallas attempt to become friends with his opponent by shaking his hand. Roman Reigns initially accepted before following up with a Samoan Drop, Superman Punch and spear to record an easy win.

#4 Roman Reigns faced Bray Wyatt for 25+ minutes

Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt faced off in televised WWE matches lasting longer than 20 minutes at Battleground and Hell in a Cell in 2015, but their longest one-on-one match came on an episode of Monday Night RAW in June 2017.

One night after the Fatal 5-Way Universal Championship #1 Contender’s match at Extreme Rules, Roman Reigns defeated Wyatt in RAW's opening match, which surprisingly lasted 26 minutes.

#3 Roman Reigns squashed Mark Henry (2 minutes, 49 seconds)

Mark Henry looked set to defeat Dean Ambrose for the United States Championship in February 2014 before Seth Rollins broke up a pinfall to cause a disqualification.

The following week on RAW, Henry faced Roman Reigns in a match that should, on paper, have been a tough challenge for “The Big Dog”.

As it turned out, Henry did not put up much of a fight and the Shield member was able to defeat his veteran opponent in just 2 minutes and 49 seconds following a Superman Punch and a spear.

#2 Roman Reigns faced Triple H for 25+ minutes

Throughout the first two years of Roman Reigns’ singles career, it was often speculated whether WWE’s higher-ups would end their experiment with “The Big Dog” as the company’s next top guy.

Roman Reigns’ failure to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar seemed to suggest that WWE officials had their doubts, but those rumors were put to bed one year later when he defeated Triple H in the main event of WrestleMania 32.

The match went on for 27 minutes and 10 seconds, making it the second longest of the night after The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon.

#1 Roman Reigns squashed Sunil Singh (1 minute, 13 seconds)

Jinder Mahal issued a challenge to Roman Reigns on the final episode of RAW before their match at Money in the Bank 2018.

While it may have appeared that Mahal wanted to go one-on-one with his rival six days early, he actually meant that Roman Reigns could take on one of his closest allies, Sunil Singh, instead.

Needless to say, the match did not last very long, as “The Big Dog” connected with his signature moves – a Superman Punch, followed by a spear – to seal a dominant victory.

Mahal went on to hit Reigns with the Khallas to stand tall at the end of the segment.
