Best and Worst of Impact Wrestling: Male star destroys female competitor, Nasty botches

Impact Wrestling is one of the best things in the wrestling world. It's a shame that not a lot of people really watch the show because for all its faults, it's one of the most entertaining wrestling products out there.

And now it is available for free on Twitch, which means that everyone should be tuning in and supporting the show. Unfortunately, there were only 10000 people or so this week, which didn't do justice to the quality of the program.

I'd missed Best and Worst last week and my colleague Greg Bush had filled in and done a mighty commendable job, in my personal opinion. Shout out to him for having my back and I urge you to read his Impact Wrestling results column right here.

That said, I'm back and it's time for yet another edition of Impact Wrestling's 'Best and worst' analysis.

#1 Best: Rosemary is back in the title picture

Rosemary is far too popular a character to be sitting on the sidelines when the others in the division are coming for the Knockouts Championship, I feel. She always gets the biggest pop during the show and it is not a surprise because of just how cool her character is.

As entertaining as her forays into the Supernatural world are, I think it's high time for her to lay a claim on the Knockouts Championship and prove her dominance over the division once again. Even if she does not win the Championship again, she should be chasing for the title, I feel.

Rosemary and Taya have waged wars in the past. However, back then Taya Valkyrie did not play this character as the announcers pointed out.

This feud feels fresh and could potentially be very exciting, I feel.

#1 Worst: A slower-than-usual main event

Maybe I'm immune to the charm of ECW as I wasn't a fan growing up. But the main event match between Tommy Dreamer and Rob Van Dam, while okay, did not do much for me personally.

I understand the historical significance of the match and why fans of the ECW product found it special considering that these two men pretty much laid the foundation of the promotion in the very building where they waged war this week. But then again, the match was a little slow paced and unexciting for me, to be quite honest.

Impact Wrestling has been putting on some of the best main event matches over the past few weeks. This match just seemed like a step in the wrong direction, where the quality of the match was sacrificed for nostalgia.

However, I did not mind what happened after the match.

#2 Best: The return of Sabu

One of the things that I asked Josh Mathews when I interviewed him this week was whether Sabu would be making a comeback to Impact Wrestling. Mathews confirmed that he will. And indeed, Sabu is not only back in the mix but he's allied with two of his best friends.

I had a problem with two ECW originals wrestling against each other. But I'm completely okay with these three men teaming up and having someone younger carry them through their match so that there's no slack in pace. Plus, the return of Sabu is welcome because he's still in ring shape like he proved at United We Stand on WrestleMania weekend.

I'm very curious to see how the feud between the ECW originals and Moose & The North pans out. It could potentially be a good platform for all 6 of the men involved to showcase their wares.

#2 Worst: The X-Division picture

I had assumed that with Rich Swann as the X-Division Champion, the division will know no bounds. However, the division has never been as relegated to the sidelines as it is right now. Why is the X-Division Champion not having competitive matches with the amazing high-fliers in Impact Wrestling?

Swann could potentially be tearing it up with the likes of The Rascalz. He could be waging a bunch of wars with Fenix or even someone like Willie Mack. Remember that the X-Division is not about weight limits but instead, it is about 'no limits'.

But however, as good as it was, the rivalry between Rich Swann and Sami Callihan did nothing to elevate the X-Division Championship per se. Impact Wrestling should have Rich Swann potentially clash with Johnny Impact down the line as he has the cash-in chip that he won at United We Stand in the big multi-man match.

#3 Best: LAX vs. The North

If you thought that LAX won't have good opponents now that Pentagon and Fenix are probably in AEW, and definitely out of the tag team picture, with both men stepping into the singles division in recent times, think again folks. This is because The North has stepped up and both Ethan Page and Josh Alexander proved just how good they are.

They took on LAX in what was a pretty solid match indeed. There was a disputed finish which should play into the long-term storyline I'm guessing.

But more importantly, Impact Wrestling has proved that it has the firepower to keep the division going with LAX as the nucleus with other teams joining the fray. Maybe there will come a point where the Desi Hit Squad and The Rascalz will join the fray too.

But I wouldn't mind seeing yet another match between LAX and The North for now.

#3 Worst: Melissa Santos' botches

Melissa Santos seems like she's very likable and is definitely a great host during the commercial breaks for Impact. It just seems like she's so terrible with technology that it becomes a deterrent when it comes to enjoying these segments.

When the first segment began at the top of the show, there was no audio at all. And then later during the show, there were major audio issues with her volume dropping and falling during the broadcast.

And if this wasn't enough, because of the technical issues, we were subjected to two flashbacks segment instead of just one this week. Santos would make yet another massive botch when 10000 people were watching live and she said that the number was 1000.

While Melissa Santos is still great at her job, I'd personally have preferred if these issues would have been avoided because they make the show seem quite amateurish.

#4 Best/worst: Glenn Gilbertti vs. Tessa Blanchard

It's so amazing that so many years since he was Disco Inferno in WCW, Glenn Gilbertti still commands the same level of heat that he once did in the business. I suppose he has even more heat now than he did in WCW. The crowd absolutely hated him when he came out and destroyed Ashley Vox in his exhibition match with her.

He provided running commentary while doing his sadistic acts which made the crowd hate him even more than they initially did. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when Tessa Blanchard came in and put an end to the proceedings, ensuring that there will be a match between the two.

Blanchard even asked for a match against Gilbertti when I interviewed her this week. I just wonder if it is the best use of her incredible talent.

Shouldn't she be feuding with someone like Jordynne Grace?
