Best and worst of Impact Wrestling- Tessa Blanchard destroys sexist wrestler, Dream feud teased

What a great time it is to be a wrestling fan, right? Close on the heels of the amazing AEW pay-per-view 'Double or Nothing,' we get such an extraordinarily good episode of Impact Wrestling.

Plus, in just a few hours we will be treated to what should be, as always, a pretty fantastic edition of NXT TakeOver. But let's not get ahead of ourselves because the task at hand is the weekly 'Best and worst' edition of Impact Wrestling.

I thought that this week's episode was even better than the show usually is, on most weeks. And on most weeks, Impact Wrestling puts on a pretty good show that honestly puts WWE's main roster to shame.

There were only a few aspects of tonight's action that I did not particularly care for, personally.

#1 Best: Tessa Blanchard takes out Glenn Gilbertti for his comments

This match was exactly what it needed to be. Glenn Gilbertti has been calling out the Knockouts for not being anything better than second rate on most nights which led to him facing off against Tessa Blanchard in a first-time clash.

Blanchard is no stranger to inter-gender matches and if you've watched United We Stand, you know that she had one of the matches of the night against Joey Ryan. This time, Gilbertti stepped into the ring and made many disparaging comments towards the women in wrestling today, right before the match.

Tessa Blanchard would make short work of Gilbertti much to the delight of the audience on hand, which solidified her as a babyface. I had trouble buying into such a natural heel as a babyface before this, but just about anyone becomes a good guy naturally when you're working against someone like Glenn Gilbertti.

#1 Worst: Same gimmick, different feud?

Now, I am a fan of inter-gender wrestling and the possibilities it presents, so don't get me wrong. Considering how much wrestling I watch on a weekly basis, anything that shakes things up is welcome in my books at least.

However, there are different ways to arrive at a match than doing the same old tired sexist routine that Glenn Gilbertti did earlier in the night. He pretty much said that the women of today's wrestling world will not be able to hang with the men.

Sami Callihan went on to say pretty much the same thing ahead of Scarlett Bordeaux and Fallah Bahh teaming up to take on the Crist Brothers for their match next week. He would make fun of the women's division in much the same way, which doesn't reflect too well when it comes to Impact's creativity.

This seemed like it was the same gimmick shared by two different wrestlers.

#2 Best: You still got it (Clap-Clap-Clapclapclap)

RVD, Tommy Dreamer, and Sabu teamed up to take on Moose and The North at the start of the night. The crowd was absolutely electric and they reacted fantastically to the Moose vs. RVD face-off that transpired. The two men got the crowd to chant along to their respective catchphrases and it was a pretty cool moment.

Special kudos should go out to Sabu who's moving pretty well for a man who's 54 years of age! To put things into perspective, that is just how old The Undertaker is right now. Sabu has kept himself in great shape over the years and can go at the highest level, even at his age.

The audience chanted 'this is awesome' even before the match really got underway and were pretty hot until the end of the contest. I really like the pairing of Moose and The North too!

#2 Worst: Changing rules in the middle of the match?

Like I said in the previous page, I quite liked the contest between the ECW originals and Moose/The North except for one little detail. The match did not start out as a hardcore match, but it turned out to be one midway through the epic contest.

As I watched the referee lose control over the proceedings, I kept wondering to myself why this couldn't be promoted as a street fight in the first place. I mean you have the ECW originals involved and it made all the sense in the world to do so, right? A lot of people in the Twitch chat also alluded to the same.

These are the little details that fans latch on to during an age when everyone has an opinion. And they reflect poorly on the company especially if they happen to Tweet about it.

#3 Best: A dream feud!

At Double or Nothing, The Young Bucks took on the Lucha Bros to determine the best tag team in the whole world. I honestly think that you cannot have that conversation until you talk about LAX as well, a team that has been redefining tag team wrestling in Impact.

The unfortunate bit about them is that they're constantly running out of opponents to face off against in the current roster. This is why I am glad that The Rascalz have stepped up to the plate and challenged LAX, at long last.

Imagine the quality of matches that the two teams will put on. It may even be better than what Pentagon Jr. and Fenix put on against Matt and Nick Jackson at AEW Double or Nothing this past weekend.

This was just the shot in the arm that Impact Wrestling needed and I'm glad it's finally happening.

#3 Worst: Way too many flashbacks

I couldn't find a Tweet for the flashbacks so I thought I'd just help Impact Wrestling out by posting about their sale. When you're posting three flashbacks through the course of the program, there is a major issue with the show flow.

Flashbacks take you out of the moment and take you back to when the crowds were bigger and hotter too. They remind you that Impact Wrestling is just a shell of what they once used to be and could actually be a negative.

Impact is in the rebuilding phase and they're putting forth great shows that need all the support that they can get. Three flashbacks during a show can be overkill, all said and done.

Especially when you're reminded of the fact that Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles used to call Impact Wrestling home once upon a time, and the crowd used to be thunderous.

#4 Best/worst: Way too many legends?

Eddie Edwards and Killer Kross had the match of the night. There were some spots that looked unsafe and I just hope that Edwards does not go to concussion city with the kind of punishment he seems intent on taking. He's a very smart and talented man, with a beautiful wife, and really needs to be careful.

Like I said, the match in itself was quite fantastic. It was what happened shortly after the match, with Sandman showing up, that I'm in two minds about, quite honestly. I mean when you already have so many ECW originals during the show, do you really need another one?

Eddie Edwards was gifted a kendo stick in another passing of the torch by Sandman who swigged beers like it was nobody's business. Did it dilute the original passing of the torch from Tommy Dreamer to Edwards?

Also, here is Alexa Bliss for no reason at all.
