Best and worst of WWE RAW Reunion: Bray Wyatt attacks legend, missed opportunity?

A show like RAW Reunion will only happen once in a while. And when it does happen, it's a nice way for the men and women who've paved the path for the Superstars of today to have yet another moment in the spotlight.

I thought that the RAW Reunion show was not without its share of faults, truth be told. But at the same time, it was a nice little trip down memory lane and you have to be completely heartless to not have liked anything from across the three hours.

In this article, I will detail the best and the worst of what happened during the show. Let me know your thoughts about the same, in the comments section below.

#1 Best: The 24/7 Championship changes hands several times

Today was the day that I discovered that women too can become 24/7 Champion. The title was by far the best thing about the entire show, considering the fact that legends were involved in the title changes, many of whom cannot really take bumps. It really made for some of the most entertaining moments at RAW Reunion.

I also love the fact that Drake Maverick and R-Truth (with Carmella and Renee Michelle) were front and center in the storyline. As many times as the titles changed hands during the course of the show, I'm glad that it came back to the two of them. These are the two men who have made the title their own, not shying away from silly skits that would have turned others away.

I especially popped for Kelly Kelly becoming the 24/7 Champion, much to my surprise. How good does she look, even today?

#1 Worst: Squash match that did not fit the theme at all

I loved the shoutout from Corey Graves to Randy Rhoads, the former guitarist of Ozzy Osbourne, during the match. But that is pretty much all I liked about this squash match featuring Braun Strowman at RAW Reunion.

I don't even know why WWE would book such a match because it did not fit the theme at all, I felt. I would have loved to see Strowman square off against a big man like Kevin Nash or even continue his feud with Lashley because even that would have made more sense.

Just having a squash match in the middle of the show with no payoff seems like a very silly thing to me, honestly. This was the one big black mark on what was otherwise a pretty good show.

I really wonder what led Vince McMahon to book such a strange match.

#2 Best: Foley passes the torch to Bray Wyatt

So Mick Foley was in the ring addressing the crowd, talking about his most memorable moment ever. And then the lights could go out and a familiar fiend would show up to terrify the audience that was in attendance, in a scary segment.

Bray Wyatt delivered the mandible claw to Mick Foley and the place erupted when this segment happened. It is clear that Foley wanted to put Wyatt over, and as the former fiend, Mankind, it was like a passing of the torch from one twisted soul to another one. This was a nice little pitstop on the way to SummerSlam in August.

The lore of The Fiend began when he took out Finn Balor and continued with Mick Foley this week. Bray Wyatt is by far the most over performer in the roster at the moment and one only hopes that this momentum continues.

#2 Worst: Botch from Alundra Blayze during the show

At the age of 55, Alundra Blayze became the brand new 24/7 Champion. And she wasn't even the oldest person on the show to win the newly launched title. But then, when she won the title she made quite a botch of things.

She went on to call it the 24 Championship, in line with naming wrestling things about TV shows, soon after the OC. Bad jokes aside, one can pardon her this little mishap but because it is in our nature to point botches out, this must be listed. Personally, it did not bother me though I wonder why Naomi did not go after the title, at least in kayfabe.

It also brings up the whole question of why Carmella has never gone after the 24/7 Championship before this, if women can potentially win the title. Maybe this warrants an article.

#3 Best: Stone Cold Steve Austin's unscripted promo

Stone Cold Steve Austin came out to the familiar tune of the glass breaking and cut a promo to close out the show. It was completely unscripted and heartfelt and not in line with the Stone Cold that we know and love.

No, this was a warm promo from the man who's paved the way for the men and women of today, commemorating the locker room for everything they've given to the wrestling business. Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair were on the ramp and they could only stare in amazement, as Stone Cold Steve Austin owned the crowd.

I know that a lot of people wanted a match to close out the show. But in my mind, this was a very special moment, where the curtain was pulled back and a generational leader saluted the locker room.

Hats off to the Texas Rattlesnake.

#3 Worst: Missed opportunity with Owens?

So, you have Stone Cold Steve Austin on your show and you don't have him deliver dual stunners with Kevin Owens? Am I the only person who sees this as a major missed opportunity?

Much like Mick Foley passed the torch to Bray Wyatt, Stone Cold should have done something on similar lines with Kevin Owens. It would have helped further the storyline with Shane McMahon, and also would have made Owens into a much bigger star, at once.

I know that WWE bends the rules with the Wild Card rule whenever it suits their narrative and they could have done the same to accommodate a SmackDown star on RAW. As good as the promo from Stone Cold Steve Austin was, this would have been the cherry on top.

I can't believe that such an obvious thing did not occur to those in WWE Creative.

#4 Best/worst: John Cena

John Cena came to kick start the show on the right note. I thought that the rap battle that he had with The Usos was entertaining. But the whole shtick about how WWE is his home and how the WWE Universe is his family is getting old, not because it's not heartfelt, but we've heard it far too many times.

There is no doubt that John Cena actually believes that WWE is home. You could hear his voice crack up as he was cutting his promo. I still can't help but wonder if it wouldn't have been a better idea to use Cena in some other way, maybe to put a legend over.

Even a backstage promo between say, Cena and someone like Braun Strowman could have done wonders. As good as Cena's delivery is, the same promo can get really old, really fast.
