Best and worst of WWE SmackDown- Top Superstar misses the show, Extremely strange pairing

Everything about this week's episode of WWE SmackDown was strange. The good parts were strange in a good way and the bad parts were strange in a bad way, in my opinion at least.

As we build to WWE TLC, we learned a few of the matches that will be on the show and the storylines progressed, which was certainly a very good thing. But at the same time, a lot of things happened that left me scratching my head, wondering what the purpose of the whole episode really was.

So, let us begin with a 'best and worst' analysis of the entire episode. As always, I invite you guys to leave a comment and let me know what aspects of the show you enjoyed and what parts you weren't necessarily fans of.

#1 Best: Getting personal with The Miz

This week's episode of SmackDown played out like a horror movie in parts, with Bray Wyatt playing mind-games with The Miz. We also saw The Miz being confirmed as The Fiend's opponent for TLC in the absence of Daniel Bryan, who missed the show.

The mystery of what happened to Daniel Bryan is a pretty cool one and I'm also glad that we got to see Firefly Fun House Bray Wyatt in action for the very first time, this week. I'm glad that we're getting to see the duality of The Fiend's character and WWE is keeping things very interesting.

The whole world knows about The Miz's family thanks to Miz and Mrs. and they also know just how much they mean to the man. And so, for things to become so personal makes this a compelling feud to watch for fans.

#1 Worst: Elias and Dana Brooke paired together?

I am all for underutilized members of the WWE roster getting TV time, but I honestly do think that this whole Drake Maverick-Dana Brooke angle is super weird in not such a good way. Dana Brooke is also Elias' on-screen valet, and I just think that she may drag him down in the long run, because of just how comfortable he is on his own.

Also, does this mean that there's a love quadrangle of sorts going on between Dana Brooke, Batista, Elias, and Drake Maverick (who wishes he was in the mix!). I mean Carmella and R-Truth elevated one another, but I just think that this is a strange case.

All I hope is that this does not become another Bobby Lashley and Lana storyline, because one is enough. I think all feuds should have a story, but a good story always trumps a bad one.

#2 Best: The eyelash spot

Corey Graves, like many adult males around the world who were tuned into SmackDown this week, were undecided over whom they'd rather support- Alexa Bliss or Mandy Rose when they met in the ring. Everyone assumed that it would be a regular match, but the two creative ladies found a way to make it very unique.

In the world of wrestling, sometimes it seems like you have seen everything already. But Mandy Rose did a spot where she tore out Alexa Bliss' fake eyelashes, while Alexa Bliss sold it quite magnificently.

I don't know what the whole thing may have felt like but I'm certain that everyone watching around the world grimaced like Alexa Bliss did when the spot actually did take place. Honestly, this was a lot better than what's happening with Lacey Evans and Bayley. It just feels like we've seen that kind of feud before.

#2 Worst: The Revival vs. New Day once again

Let me preface this by saying that I think that The Revival is one of the best tag teams in the whole world. But we've seen The Revival vs. The New Day so many times already that I feel that the charm has worn out. WWE had a chance to go with Ali and Shorty G as a tag team this week, and push them all the way to the moon!

Otis from Heavy Machinery is also incredibly over and to see him square off against Big E would have been a hilarious contest indeed. Will The Revival and The New Day tear the house down when they clash at WWE TLC 2019? Yes.

But would one of the other teams not have done the same had they been given the opportunity to shine this week? I think that any of them, especially Heavy Machinery would have been great in that coveted spot.

#3 Best: Baron Corbin embarrasses Roman Reigns with dog food

See, I think that the whole deal with Roman Reigns being covered in dog food to close out this week's episode of SmackDown achieved its purpose. It got the crowd on Roman Reigns' side and it has made the feud really personal as well, and I've posted my opinion in a separate article.

This personal nature of the feud will certainly lead to a very intense match at TLC, justifying the need for the stipulation. Roman Reigns and King Corbin always put on good matches and there's no reason this one won't be good.

But at the same time, one can't call this good 'creative' and justify the segment. I mean there were other ways and means to get here, in my personal opinion.

In any case, because I've already spoken about The Goddess, I will share Tom Colohue's podcast with Gary Cassidy at this point, talking about WWE TLC 2019.
