Exclusive: NXT UK's Amir Jordan opens up on his journey to NXT UK, and his WWE dream match

WWE describes Amir Jordan as "like no-one you've ever seen before" - and it's easy to see why once you've seen him in action.

Trained by former WWE Superstar Lance Storm and UK legend Marty Jones, The Bhangra Bad Boy is a pleasure to watch in the ring, and truly provides a little bit of the unknown to NXT UK.

You introduced yourself to the WWE Universe at the United Kingdom Championship Tournament. What was that like as an experience?

It was ridiculous. It feels like a dream right now. I remember the day at Download and getting ready to go out there, and it feels like a dream because, until that time, I'd never actually been in a WWE ring. I'd never had a tryout.

At that time, I'd only been wrestling for two, maybe two and a half years, so going out there is an experience I'll never forget - my debut WWE match two and a bit years into wrestling. It was incredible.

Trial by fire, massively, against Zack Gibson, because he's one of the best in the world.

The first match I ever saw of yours was Joseph Conners, I think it was at the Royal Albert Hall...

Yeah! We were the first match one of the two days, to open up at the Royal Albert Hall. It's just one thing after the other... That's what it's been like anyway this past year.

"This was the best moment." "Oh, this was the best moment!"

Every new moment is the best moment ever!

Yeah, man, you just enjoy it, and you just roll with it!

(At this point, an excited Amir is sat upright in his chair, shuffling it around, wearing his trademark grin)

Kenny Williams: I think he's about to start dancing!

You can choose from any Superstar on WWE brand - what would be your one dream match?

Oh, it's got to be Ali. He's one of my favourite wrestlers. Looking at what he stands for, especially when I was starting training and I saw him come up through the Cruiserweight Classic and 205 Live as well, it was that thing of, like, this is someone from a similar background to me who's making a name for himself in the biggest company in the world - so to be in there with him...

As much as he is an inspiration to a whole part of the world, that's what he's been to me so to be in there with him would be incredible.

If you were to switch to any other brand in WWE, which one would you choose?

I always get asked by my mates, "When are we going to see you on RAW? When are we going to see you on SmackDown?" To be honest, maybe that might be the case for a lot of us one day down the line, but we're all focused on making NXT UK the hottest brand on the WWE Network.

NXT UK has only been going for a year, and the wealth and depth of talent - we've not even scratched the surface. There's so many guys that, once they get given more opportunites or go get their opportunities, you'll see so much more than you have over this last year.

Finally, I have one final, super controversial question to ask you, and I'm sorry if it causes any offence...

Pineapple on pizza, yea or nay?

No. I've done it, to be fair, but there are so many better things you can put on a pizza.

Thanks to WWE and Amir Jordan. You can catch Amir in action on NXT UK every Wednesday on the WWE Network or follow him on Twitter here.
