Impact Wrestling News: Brian Cage reveals he's still not 100% prior to his Slammiversary match (Exclusive)

Brian Cage captured the Impact Wrestling World Championship at Rebellion, but unfortunately, a freak accident would result in him ending up at the hospital. Thankfully, he's back to a point where he can compete in the ring once more, and 'The Machine' will go up against Michael Elgin at Slammiversary this weekend, in what should be his biggest match thus far.

I had a chance to catch up with Cage during the Impact Wrestling Press Pass podcast with Ross Forman, that was also simultaneously broadcast on Facebook Live. I got to ask two questions and here they are for your reading pleasure.

At what point during your match at Rebellion did you realize that you were injured?

Cage: Firstly, the moment I hit the Spanish Fly to the floor, I knew right away that something was wrong completely and my right leg went numb too. And my first thoughts at that moment were- 'have I broken my back?', 'have I ruptured a disc?', 'am I going to need back surgery?', 'is my career over?', 'will I be able to walk again?'. I panicked.

Obviously, I fought through that and I pushed through that, and it obviously wasn't as severe as I feared but there's still been definite residual pain from the injury and my initial injury in April too that are still stemming down my leg and my hip that I haven't fully healed up yet. I'm working through that and hopefully, that will go away in due time.

There was a match teased between yourself and Ken Shamrock on social media not long ago. Is that something you want to do?

Cage: I would love that opportunity. I was actually with him at a show in Germany and discussed it with him. Whether it takes place in Impact or elsewhere I think it would be awesome to have it. I think it'll be great for the Impact Plus app. It would be an amazing main event. I'm not the one doing the matchmaking but hopefully, it happens.

Our best wishes go out to Brian Cage for a very speedy recovery. Be sure to catch Slammiversary on July 7, 2019.
