In Your House makes its return this weekend

NXT Takeover: In Your House- 5 Little-known facts

The NXT roster takes center stage this weekend for their first Takeover event since February when they present In Your House. In line with the current COVID-19 restrictions, it made sense for the company to bring back the In Your House concept since there are Stay Home orders for many members of the WWE Universe all over the world.

The NXT roster has still been able to present their weekly shows throughout the worldwide lockdown since the company usually records from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida.

The NXT Takeover event that was planned for the week of WrestleMania was cancelled since WWE decided to have a WrestleMania event over two days, which means that this is the first time that the third WWE brand has been able to perform on pay-per-view since the lockdown.

#5. Charlotte's first Takeover since 2015

Charlotte Flair was promoted to the main roster as part of the Divas Revolution, which began back in the summer of 2015. Flair is a former 11-time Women's Champion and one of those Championship reigns came when she was down in NXT.

Flair won the Women's Championship at Takeover back in 2014 when she defeated Natalya in the finals before she then went on to dominate the NXT Women's Division. Flair dropped the Championship to Sasha Banks on her way up to the main roster at NXT Takeover: Rival in February 2015.

This wasn't Charlotte's final Takeover appearance though, since The Queen teamed up with Bayley to defeat Emma and Dana Brooke at Takeover: Unstoppable just weeks before her main roster call-up.

It remains Charlotte's last Takeover match ahead of this weekend's In Your House title defense. It is worth noting that Charlotte did appear at Takeover: Portland to accept Rhea Ripley's WrestleMania challenge, but she didn't actually wrestle.

#4. Karrion Kross pay-per-view debut

Karrion Kross (fka Killer Kroos) made his debut in WWE a few months ago after months of speculation that the former Impact Wrestling star and his wife Scarlett Bordeaux were heading over to WWE.

Kross has made quite an impact on NXT already after stepping into a feud with Tommaso Ciampa. Ahead of Kross' debut in NXT, Ciampa had ended his feud with Johnny Gargano which then led to the Sicilian Psychopath being attacked backstage.

It was made clear that Kross was the one behind the attack from the start since the feud with Gargano had run its course and Gargano has his own match this weekend against Keith Lee for the North American Championship.

This weekend, Kross will be making his first Takeover appearance and Scarlett is expected to be in his corner when he takes on Ciampa.

Kross is someone from whom great things are expected in NXT, and so far, he looks to be following through on the hype. This weekend will be a huge test for the former Impact Wrestling star and it could allow him to get his Takeover career off to the perfect start as well.

#3. 25th Anniversary of In Your House

The In Your House concept isn't new for WWE or NXT since the company ran a number of In Your House events under the WWF banner in the late '90s. In Your House was a place holder pay-per-view that allowed the company to air many two-hour pay-per-views with the same name between their major events. This weekend it becomes NXT's first In Your House event in history.

The concept was retired back in 1999 when the company decided that it was time for more permanent names for their monthly events. This weekend's show marks the 25th anniversary of the first In Your House pay-per-view which debuted back in 1995. This weekend also marks 21 years since the final In Your House Pay-per-view, which aired on February 14th and was called the St Valentine's Day Massacre.

This would have been the perfect time for the company to bring back this concept even if they weren't forced to make the decision. In Your House is something that many wrestling promotions have been looking at throughout the lockdown, which could be why WWE decided to hand the show over to NXT.

#2. Triple H may be the only star to appear from 1999

As already noted, the last In Your House event before NXT's this weekend was back on Valentine's Day in 1999 and was aptly named the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. This show was more than two decades ago which is why many stars who were on the card aren't around anymore.

There are a handful of stars from the card back in 1999 that are still working for WWE including Mark Henry, Jeff Jarrett, Jeff Hardy, Kane, and Triple H.

Of all the stars on the list, the only face who is likely to make an appearance this weekend is Triple H, since he is currently the man behind NXT. Since this is the first NXT Takeover event since the COVID-19 pandemic forced WWE to cancel shows and run without an audience, the show could kick off with a speech from Triple H much like the first WWE show without an audience back in March.

#1. First Takeover at Full Sail since 2016

This weekend's Takeover event will take place from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. Full Sail was seen as the home of WWE's NXT brand for a number of years before the decision to take the Takeover shows on the road was made.

The last Takeover show that took place from Full Sail was Takeover: The End back in 2016. It's also interesting to note that on Sunday, it'll be exactly four years since that show took place on June 8th. The show also included current WWE stars Asuka, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Nia Jax.

WWE's developmental brand has since been on the road performing in front of sell-out crowds the night before WWE main roster pay-per-views over the last few years.

It was announced in late 2019 that NXT's pay-per-views would now be taking place on their own Sundays, but so far Portland has been the only Takeover event to take place since the announcement.

Finn Balor main evented the show that night in a match against Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship. This weekend he faces Damien Priest after weeks of issues between the two stars. Balor is the only star who will feature on both the PPVs.
