RAW Preview: Huge heel turn, WWE legend to get title shot? (May 6th, 2019)

We're set for another huge episode of Monday Night RAW and tonight, it looks more promising than ever. As we edge closer to Money in the Bank, we need to remember that it isn't just MITB that WWE will be building towards.

They've got the Saudi Arabia show on June 7th, and they're likely going to be building that up - starting from tonight. Roman Reigns is set to make a special appearance RAW, despite WWE officials denying him at first. But we'll get back to that later.

Last week, we got the full RAW side of the two MITB ladder matches (and the next night, the SmackDown stars were announced). Chaos naturally ensued in quick order, while United States champion Samoa Joe got pinned by the man he squashed at WrestleMania - Rey Mysterio.

A rather bizarre rivalry between The Usos and The Revival began, while The Miz's rivalry with Shane McMahon went to a whole new level. Here's what to expect from RAW tonight!

#6. Has Rey Mysterio earned a spot back in the United States title picture?

Rey Mysterio pinned Samoa Joe last week

Rey Mysterio, as you probably know, suffered a humiliating defeat at WrestleMania 35 when Samoa Joe squashed him in all but a minute. Failing to capture the United States Championship, Mysterio called it the most humiliating moment of his career and had a chance at redeeming himself in a non-title match on RAW last week.

By pure veteran instinct, Mysterio managed to get a clever pin on Joe, getting a taste of redemption. His son Dominic was even with him at the entrance, hoisting himself up in victory.

With a clean win over the champion, does this mean that Rey Mysterio will get a United States title shot? We believe that is exactly what's going to happen at Money in the Bank.

#5. The Money in the Bank competitors get ready

Will RAW take the MITB?
Ad

Last week, Alexa Bliss announced that on the RAW side of the men's MITB ladder match, the competitors would be former winner Braun Strowman and Baron Corbin and two former champions in NXT - Ricochet and Drew McIntyre.

As for the women's side, Alexa Bliss herself, Naomi, Natalya and Dana Brooke were announced as the contestants. The four men wasted no time in going at it, with Strowman and Ricochet handily defeating Corbin and McIntyre.

Alexa Bliss, not ready for a match, found herself in the hands of defeat by Naomi, a woman who has had her number dating back to early 2017 when they were both on SmackDown.

With MITB getting closer and closer, what will the competitors pull off to try and get a mental edge over one another? Will the former winners be the ones to constantly have the advantage?

#4. What's brewing between The Revival and The Usos?

The Usos have their first rivalry on RAW

The Usos handily defeated Gallows & Anderson in a good effort last week. However, post-match, they decided to "leak" a clip they took, where Dash Wilder was shaving the back of Scott Dawson in the shower.

The Revival took exception to this, justifying their actions. There's clearly a rivalry brewing here, but will The Usos continue to humiliate the top guys?

#3. Will Lacey Evans square up to The Man?

A huge brawl broke out last week

Last week, Lacey Evans and Becky Lynch when head-on. While Becky Lynch and Evans had a small war of words, they let their hands do the talking as they had an all-out brawl. It got so intense that referees and backstage officials had to come out to separate the two women.

The rivalry between the two is undoubtedly heating up, and Evans is slowly beginning to gain some serious momentum. The two women are likely going to attempt the same this week, so expect another all-out brawl.

#2. AJ Styles makes a statement

AJ Styles drew first blood last week

Last week, the incredible final segment saw the dream staredown between Seth Rollins and AJ Styles in what was one of the best contract signings on RAW in a while. The Phenomenal One and The Beastslayer may respect each other's skills, but it was clear that they weren't always going to get along.

And that was reaffirmed at the contract signing, when the two began to slowly take shots at each other before going all out. AJ Styles struck first, and the brawl started, with The Phenomenal One taking charge and standing tall at the end of the night.

With Styles clearly making a statement, will he take it a notch further and turn heel by viciously attacking Seth Rollins? Or will we see the Universal Champion be the one to draw first blood this week? Whatever happens, don't blink - because you'll miss a lot more than you realize.

#1. Roman Reigns returns to RAW, but why?

Roman Reigns will be back on RAW

Roman Reigns took the wrestling world by surprise when he announced that he would be on RAW this week. The immediate question was "why?". After all, Roman Reigns is SmackDown Live's biggest acquisition ever, and he's going to be a major game changer on the blue brand.

Despite being just two weeks into his run with the blue brand, he announced that he will be appearing on RAW. The major speculation going on is that Roman Reigns will challenge Goldberg at the June 7th event at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After all, Goldberg's return was just announced by WWE and they need a major marquee match.

Reigns was initially denied by WWE officials, who cited his "obligations as a SmackDown Live superstar". Roman Reigns being Roman Reigns, just laughed it off and told WWE to get his music ready.
