Roman Reigns: 3 Fresh Storylines for the Big Dog on SmackDown Live

Roman Reigns has been on Monday night RAW pretty much throughout his career. Many critics and fans of the former Shield member felt that a change of brands could do a whole lot of good for the former Universal Champion. Their wishes came true in the recent Superstar Shake-up.

“The Big Dog” has a new home and on the most recent episode of SmackDown Live, he apparently started a feud with Vince McMahon and Elias. This confirms the theory that Reigns will be a genuine babyface this year or at least for the next few months. A program with Elias could be a nice easy way to start his career on SmackDown, but Elias is not the guy he needs to be fighting when the roster has a host of other top superstars.

Roman Reigns will be eagerly waiting to see what the creative team of the blue brand has in store for him. The blue brand's roster boasts of many big names, but Roman has fought quite a few of them. Here are three superstars who I firmly believe could be Roman's opponents for this season leading to WrestleMania 36.

#3 Daniel Bryan

A feud with Daniel Bryan is one the WWE Universe has been clamoring for ever since Bryan left his managerial role on SmackDown to restart his wrestling career. It would not be wise to put Roman Reigns in the world title picture right away since the current champion should have a respectable reign first, and Roman must also work his way to the top.

A hard-fought rivalry with Daniel Bryan could prove to be the perfect way to introduce Reigns to the Land of Opportunity in an organic manner. Reigns will be able to showcase his improved wrestling ability and mic skill against Bryan, who is one of the best performers of WWE in his own right.

#2 Finn Balor

Finn Balor is the current Intercontinental Champion

If WWE are adamant that Roman needs to be a champion on Smackdown sooner than later, then there is always the Intercontinental championship held by Finn Balor. This could prove to be a good option as well, especially since Finn Balor has the undefeated Demon King persona up to his sleeve.

Roman has not yet faced the Demon and this feud could very well help the fans see a side of Roman that has not been showcased yet. WWE could portray Roman as the underdog against the Demon, in a quest to win the coveted Intercontinental Championship. This doesn't imply that Reigns needs to end up winning the IC belt. It would, however, engage Roman in a meaningful storyline. It is important for the fans to see Roman earning his spot on the card, and pursuing the 'workhorse' title against an exceptional talent in Balor will be a step in the right direction.

#1 Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston is the WWE Champion

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston worked for 11 years to achieve the highest point of his calling. However, his extraordinary WrestleMania performance at MetLife Stadium made the wait worth it. He has risen to fame and he needs worthy opponents for his maiden title reign - and Roman is one such guy.

Although critics are sure that WWE are holding off this feud for when it is closer to WrestleMania, it does make sense for WWE to make the most of Kofi's momentum, while also giving Roman the push he needs for fans to accept him as a superstar of the blue brand. It is entirely possible that one of these superstars may turn heel during this program.

WWE might feature this feud between the two over a series of pay-per-views. including different type of matches. Kofi's speed and agility coupled with Roman's brute force will make their battles a spectacle to watch for fans.
