5 Superstars who could benefit from Bobby Lashley retaining the WWE Title against Goldberg at SummerSlam

Bobby Lashley will likely have the biggest match of his wrestling career at SummerSlam 2021. While his WrestleMania clash vs. Drew McIntyre was the most important match he's had so far, this one could exceed it simply because of the star power that Goldberg possesses.

It will be a short match and in all likeliness, an explosive one. As long as it's handled right and Lashley walks out victorious, there may not be a big fan backlash. The only issue is that Goldberg winning the WWE title would guarantee ratings but in the short run.

None of the Hall of Famer's world championship reigns since 2017 have been long and he normally makes two appearances a year in the ring. This is his second one of 2021, so it would make more sense for Lashley to retain the WWE Championship.

While Drew McIntyre is obviously not on this list because he can't challenge for the WWE title while Bobby Lashley is the incumbent champion, here are five superstars who would benefit from The All Mighty retaining at SummerSlam 2021:

#5. Big E - A cash-in on Bobby Lashley and a brand switch?

Big E holds the key to World Championship glory

In the men's division on RAW and SmackDown, no superstar poses a bigger threat to the World Champions than Money in the Bank winner Big E. While Women's MITB winner Nikki A.S.H. cashed in her briefcase within a day, the wait might be a bit longer for the New Day member.

However, Goldberg winning the WWE Championship from Bobby Lashley significantly reduces the chances of Big E having a successful cash-in. The problem on SmackDown is that Roman Reigns is simply too strong a world champion.

It's hard to imagine anyone dethroning him anytime soon. Even Big E, who by all means is ready for the next step, doesn't seem ready to dethrone Reigns.

Since there's no specific contract stating that the former Intercontinental Champion can only cash in on the Universal Champion on the Blue brand, he could largely benefit from Bobby Lashley retaining the WWE title.

If Lashley retains the WWE title against Goldberg at SummerSlam, then Big E has a huge chance at cashing in. It will be interesting to see how it would all play out with him as the WWE Champion on RAW.

#4. Bobby Lashley

Let's get the most obvious one out of the way since Bobby Lashley would undoubtedly be the biggest superstar to benefit from retaining at SummerSlam 2021. The All Mighty will be close to half a year as the WWE Champion if he walks out of the pay-per-view with the title intact.

It's been a good reign so far and it's hard to deny that Lashley hasn't been deserving of the reign that he has. While it hasn't been without its faults, he is a legitimate WWE Champion-caliber performer and he carries himself as such.

Beating Goldberg will do wonders for Bobby Lashley's WWE career. Not only will he have accumulated his biggest WWE title defense yet, but it will be the biggest win of his career. Lashley has some high-profile wins in WWE, including a clean victory over Roman Reigns.

However, Goldberg will be the biggest victory of his career and his overall star power post-SummerSlam will increase drastically. It might even keep the door open for a future WWE title reign down the line.

#3. MVP - Taking Bobby Lashley to new heights

MVP has been incredible since 2020

MVP was highly responsible for Bobby Lashley's 2020 resurgence. Before WrestleMania 36, Lashley was stuck in his romantic storyline with Lana and it was quite evident that there was no clear direction or endgame. Ultimately, he got "divorced" from her and MVP took The All Mighty under his wing.

Since then, Lashley has become a walking wrecking ball in WWE. A United States title reign was immediately followed up with a WWE title reign. The former United States Champion has been the perfect manager for Lashley and it's hard to imagine The All Mighty enjoying the same success without him.

While breaking up The Hurt Business was still a big mistake, in the long run, at least WWE kept MVP and Bobby Lashley together. On the 2nd August episode of RAW, the former played the perfect heel by trying to go after Goldberg's son Gage, telling him how his father would be humiliated at SummerSlam.

It led to him getting a spear, but he could still be responsible for helping Lashley retain at the pay-per-view. If Bobby Lashley beats Goldberg at The Biggest Party of the Summer, then it would elevate his manager by default.

#2. Keith Lee - A potential Bobby Lashley opponent?

Keith Lee's first match back in over five months happened to be against Bobby Lashley. The WWE Champion held an open challenge and it was answered by the returning Lee, who got a great reaction.

However, the ring rust in the first week was real as he was unable to put on a convincing performance against Lashley. The latter was victorious and Lee would go on to lose to Karrion Kross before beating him a week later on RAW.

Keith Lee is still an important star in WWE. It's highly possible that if he wasn't replaced by John Morrison at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, he would have won the United States Championship instead of Riddle. Even a few months into his main roster career, he was looming in and out of the WWE title picture.

When Drew McIntyre beat Keith Lee in early 2021, it was a setup for Goldberg to return. When Bobby Lashley beat him upon his return in July, it was another setup for the Hall of Famer's return. Lee will benefit by being a future challenger to Lashley, perhaps at a pay-per-view. It's hard to imagine Keith Lee dethroning The All Mighty, however.

#1. Brock Lesnar - The right man to dethrone Bobby Lashley?

Every time Bobby Lashley gets through a major title defense, there is always hope about a dream clash against Brock Lesnar. Lashley went so far as to admit that he returned to WWE in 2018 with a Lesnar clash in mind.

At first, WrestleMania 37 seemed to be the perfect stage for The Beast Incarnate's in-ring return and a match against Lashley. That didn't happen and the talk of his return seemed postponed.

WWE then announced the return of a full-time touring schedule from mid-July, leading to hopes that Brock Lesnar would be back on time to face Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam. That didn't happen either.

While Goldberg is still a big opponent for Lashley, the match against Lesnar is the biggest one possible. It's a dream match that WWE is seemingly obligated to fulfill if Bobby Lashley retains the WWE title at SummerSlam. It could headline any major pay-per-view, and hopefully, the rumors of another delay in Brock Lesnar's talks with WWE aren't true.
