Who gained heat on last night's Raw (February 5)?

Last night's edition of the red brand kept up the pace on the race to New Orleans. We saw two new qualifiers for the Elimination Chamber that didn't surprise anybody, the women's Elimination Chamber match take shape, the announcement of another big match and the furthering of two heel turns.

Who gained? Who lost? As the shimmering lights of WrestleMania get closer, let's take a look.

Gained momentum: Roman Reigns

It's one of the worst-kept secrets in history, but Roman Reigns is slated to face and defeat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 34. That process finally began last night when Roman defeated Bray Wyatt in a solid 20-minute match.

Expect to see the "Big Dog" run Raw for the rest of the year. Hopefully, all his matches won't be a finisher kick-out followed by a finisher of his own to get the win.

Lost momentum: Finn Balor

Finn Balor's iron man performance in the Royal Rumble looked even more distant last night as he took part in a random tag team match with Karl Anderson against The Revival.

It was announced that there will be a "second chance" fatal 4 way to qualify for the Elimination Chamber next week, so perhaps Balor will pick up some steam there. Perhaps.

Lost momentum: The Revival

The losers of the said tag team match, The Revival's 50/50 booking was fully on display. They're no closer to a WrestleMania match than they were after getting beat down by DX two weeks ago.

Gained momentum: Gallows and Anderson

The one pair that gained momentum out of that match was Gallows and Anderson. More visible in the tag team division as a result, perhaps their path to WrestleMania is slowly, but surely, clearing up.

Gained momentum: Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss looked more relevant than she has in months last night. After delivering a fantastic promo, she began her machinations to hold on to her title in her biggest challenge to date, attempting to form an alliance with Mickie James as the show neared its conclusion.

Gained momentum: Sasha Banks

After her fantastic showing with Asuka last week, we saw further hints of a Sasha heel turn. There was tension with Bayley backstage, and the Boss looked obsessed with finding a way to defeat Asuka.

After this segment, her chances of winning the Elimination Chamber have gone up. With Nia out of it, there are only two competitors to win it: her and Alexa Bliss.

Gained momentum: Bayley

After the tension with her BFF Sasha, we saw the renewal of a storied NXT rivalry as Bayley took on Asuka.

The match wasn't as good as the one with Sasha last week, but Bayley took the fight to the Empress in convincing fashion. She didn't win, but earned Asuka's respect at the end of the match.

Gained momentum: The Miz

The Miz dispatched Apollo Crews and punched his ticket to the Elimination Chamber. He won't win, but he has a clear path to the big show in New Orleans, and it's possible he'll find a rival inside the imposing structure, perhaps Braun Strowman.

Gained momentum: The Bar and Jason Jordan

We were told that this was the last chance for Seth Rollins and (insert partner here) to take on The Bar for their tag team titles. Roman Reigns volunteered, and the two Shield buddies were on the verge of triumph when Jason Jordan inadvertently got them disqualified, leading to a backstage segment with an irate Seth Rollins.

The Bar got to move on, finally, and Jason Jordan's coming heel turn was hinted that much more. It's also likely that his reported injury is overblown, as WWE was clearly trolling those rumors last night.

Gained momentum: Nia Jax

Surprisingly, Nia Jax was kept out of the Elimination Chamber, but was put in a match with Asuka at the eponymous event. If she wins, she'll be in line for a title shot at WrestleMania.

This is either an angle to put Nia Jax in the Raw Women's Championship picture at WrestleMania or a way to build up Asuka that much more before she challenges the champion of her choice. We'll find out on February 25th.

Gained momentum: Elias

Elias scored a pinfall victory over John Cena.

Let me repeat: Elias pinned John Cena.

Sure, it was because of Braun Strowman, but it was a huge moment for Elias either way. The pinfall earned him the right to enter the Elimination Chamber match last. Though that advantage won't see him get the win, it's a sign that WWE is clearly high on the Drifter and he's in store for a bigger push this year than he got last year.

We'll see where he ends up in New Orleans, but he'll be there in some form or fashion.

Gained momentum: Braun Strowman

He didn't win the match, but he wrecked everyone anyway, and the fans loved it.

Braun continues to be the most over character on Raw despite the existence of the Lesnar/Reigns ceiling.

Denied a shot at Lesnar, let's just hope that he has a big, big match at WrestleMania that involves the presence of another former UFC champion.
