WWE 205 Live Results (August 7th, 2020): Winners, Grades, and Video Highlights

205 Live is still plagued by the nefarious Santos Escobar and Legado Del Fantasma. The NXT Cruiserweight Champion has continued to send messages to both the 205 Live & NXT rosters since winning the title months ago. Several Superstars on the Purple Brand have caught his attention, but a certain man has had the guts to call him out. We'll hear more about that later on.

We started the show with Ever-Rise, one of only two real tag teams on 205 Live. The other, of course, being Legado Del Fantasma. Ever-Rise were desperate for a win and had a great opportunity against two unknown talents tonight.

Ever-Rise controlled Mikey Spandex in their corner, but Spandex was able to avoid some offense by Chase Parker. A slam earned Spandex a two-count, but Ever-Rise got serious at this point.

Matt Martel bounced Spandex's face off the turnbuckle and drove him spine first into the corner. A dropkick allowed Spandex to tag in Marques Carter, who took Martel down with a springboard back elbow.

His momentum was stopped completely with Chase Parker tagged in. The drop toe hold/step-up diving elbow drop set up for a wheelbarrow/Double knee gutbuster, giving Ever-Rise a not so dominant win.

Results: Ever-Rise defeated Spandex & Carter on 205 Live.

Grade: C-

After the match, we saw highlights of Legado Del Fantasma, who kidnapped Fandango on NXT. The Cruiserweight Champion, Santos Escobar, and his cronies have dominated NXT and 205 Live as of late but were frustrated with Breezango making fun of Lucha Libre.

Breezango were laid out in the middle of the ring as Escobar laughed, before turning his attention to 205 Live star Isaiah "Swerve" Scott. Swerve has been calling out Escobar for a while now, and he may have gotten the attention from the champ he's been looking for...though it might not be good for his health.

In the 205 Live main event, Danny Burch faced off against Tony Nese. On NXT, Karrion Kross laid out both members of One-Two, leaving them injured for tonight. However, Burch is not one to back down and refused to opt-out of his 205 Live bout.

205 Live main event: Tony Nese vs Danny Burch w/Oney Lorcan

Tony Nese and Danny Burch both worked for the ground control. Burch's injuries hadn't healed up over the past two days, so Nese had the advantage early on.

Burch managed to escape Nese's grasp and took him out with a series of shoulder tackles and clotheslines, dazing Nese enough to lock in a headlock. However, Nese again took control, hanging Burch up on the top rope before hitting the triangle moonsault.

Nese worked over Burch's ribs some more, with recliners and body scissors. Burch managed to break away again and made it to his feet where he lit up Nese with a nasty brawling combination. Right hands, knees to the gut, followed by a suplex earned the Guvnor of 205 Live a near fall.

Burch wasn't the first to his feet off that suplex but won the trade of blows. A sunset flip failed, though, and the former Cruiserweight Champion rocked Burch with a spinning back kick to the jaw. The first one couldn't earn a pin. The second one left Burch nearly out cold.

Nese attempted the 450 Splash but missed. As Lorcan watched on, 205 Live veteran Ariya Daivari blindsided Lorcan gouging his eyes before sending him into the plexiglass. Danny Burch checked on his partner, who struggled to make it to his feet.

Nese rushed out to take advantage but decided against it, giving Burch time to collect his thoughts. Burch sent Nese into the apron then steels steps. On the inside, the high elevation Implant DDT spiked Nese.

Results: Danny Burch defeated Tony Nese via pinfall on 205 Live.

Grade: B+

Despite serious injuries, Danny Burch picked up one of the biggest wins of his 205 Live career tonight. What's next for the Guvnor, and what's next for Tony Nese?
