Lince Dorado's anger problems may have cost him tonight

Last week, Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy issued an open challenge to anyone who dared face him. 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick had been mentioning the addition of several names to the roster, and Murphy felt that this would be a good opportunity for one of them to step up.

Would we see the arrival of an NXT or NXT UK star? Could we see the debut of a brand new star? Or would an overlooked cruiserweight look to make a name against the Juggernaut?

Also set for tonight, Lio Rush would take on Lucha House Party member Lince Dorado. Rush felt that he was cheated out of the Fatal-4-Way match at the Royal Rumble, and planned on making an example out of the Golden Lynx.

Rush opened the show with a promo, declaring the show "Lio-5 Live." Rush said that he didn't come here to party and make friends, but to win, and pointed to Bobby Lashley, the man he helped make the new Intercontinental Champion.

Rush said he should've been the new Cruiserweight Champion at the Royal Rumble, but Dorado and Gran Metalik took that from him.

Rush attacked Dorado prior to the match, but the Golden Lynx took over once the match began, taking the fight to Rush. A spinning heel kick followed by several chops stunned the Man of the Hour, and a suplex put him down for a one-count.

Rush fought out of the corner but managed to get on Dorado's bad side by slapping him in the face. A tilt a-whirl-backbreaker nearly put Rush away, but he managed to kick out. Dorado went for the Shooting Star Press, only for Rush to escape to the apron. Rush kicked Dorado into the steel post, then caught him in the right knee as Dorado ran back at him, sending him crashing to the ground.

A springboard moonsault to the outside took Dorado out, and really put the 23-year-old piece of gold back in the game. Back in the ring, Dorado kicked out at two. Rush kept Dorado locked down in the middle of the ring with a headlock and body scissors. Dorado broke out, but Rush kept the pressure on him, bringing him back to the ground with a suplex into a crossface.

Dorado broke out again, stunning Dorado with a jawbreaker. Following up with a dropkick and a bulldog, Dorado began to build momentum. He went for the Golden Rewind but was rolled up by Rush into a roundhouse kick to the head. Dorado kicked out at two.

Rush seemed to go for an Unprettier, but Dorado escaped. Dorado sent Rush into the turnbuckle, and climbed up, then connected with a high angle crossbody. Both men struggled to get back to their feet here.

A chop from Dorado sent Rush to his knees. Dorado followed up with a kick to the back of the head, then a suicide dive to the outside. Back in the ring, a trio of moonsaults nearly put Rush away, but the Man of the Hour kicked out.

Both men traded shots here, but Dorado seemed to win out with three running big boots to the jaw. Eventually, he dropped Rush with the Golden Rewind. However, as he went for the Shooting Star Press, Rush again went to the ropes.

He wasn't safe, though, as Dorado hit him with a diving leg drop on the ropes. Rush rolled across the ring, baiting Dorado in, and sent him flying into the turnbuckle shoulder first. Rush finished the match with the Final Hour.

Results: Lio Rush defated Lince Dorado via pinfall.

Rush attacked Dorado after the match, but Lucha House Party made the save, sending him running into the crowd.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviewed Noam Dar, who was bragging about his win over Tony Nese. Nese came in and said that Dar was only lucky, and claimed that 99/100 times, he could beat the Scottish Supernova. Nese challenged Dar to one more match, the rubber match. Dar continued to taunt Nese and walked away before answering.


TJP met with Drake Maverick backstage. Maverick said that he couldn't challenge Murphy tonight, as that has already been taken by a new debuting superstar tonight. Before he could finish talking to TJP, the CruiserGreat laughed and walked off.

Kalisto, Hideo Itami, and Akira Tozawa spoke on why they believed they would walk away with the Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble.

Tozawa and Kalisto are both working to become two-time champions, but Itami's hoping to capture his first piece of gold in the WWE. Next week, all three men will face off in a triple threat match, hoping to build momentum for the Fatal-4-Way.


Buddy Murphy cut a promo in the ring, claiming to be the greatest cruiserweight of all time. Murphy said that he'll be defending his title against three of the greatest in the world at the Royal Rumble, and next week's triple threat will prove which one of them is the best. Murphy then asked who wanted to face the champ.

NXT's Humberto Carrillo made his debut against Buddy Murphy tonight on 205 Live

Humberto Carrillo, NXT star and nephew of the legendary late Hector Garza, accepted Murphy's challenge. Murphy looked him over, then shook his hand.

Murphy took over early, taking him down and slapping his head. Back on their feet, Murphy brought Carrillo in with an armbar, bringing Carrillo down to his knees. Carrillo fought out, avoiding a leg sweep and locking Murphy down with a headlock.

Carrillo and Murphy dodged each other's striking combinations, and Carrillo forced Murphy into the corner. Carrillo avoided a snapmare, sending Murphy flying across the ring with multiple armdrags.

Murphy had a hard time staying ahead of Carrillo, who seemed to have an answer for everything the Juggernaut tried. However, outside the ring, Murphy finally sent him headfirst into the ramp, allowing him to take over again.

Back in the ring, Murphy kept his opponent on the ground, placing him in several holds while attacking his body with elbow strikes. Carrillo fought out and sent Murphy outside with a hurricanrana. Murphy simply walked away from Carrillo's suicide dive, sending him headfirst into the ramp again.

Murphy tossed him around ringside before sending him inside for some more punishment.

Murphy stomped his opponent out in the corner, then dragged him up for a superplex. Carrillo fought out, but Murphy drove him face first into the ring post. Carrillo managed to send Murphy crashing onto the apron, though and took back over.

A springboard kick to Murphy left him stunned. Carrillo went up and brought the champ down to the mat with a high angle crossbody. Murphy kicked out at two. Carrillo dragged Murphy to the corner, but Murphy brought his head under the top turnbuckle, attempting a superkick. Carrillo avoided, kicking Murphy away, then connected with a missile dropkick to the back of the champion's head.

Murphy managed to kick out, but he was hurt at this point. He caught Carrillo with a boot as he ran into the corner, but a kick stunned Murphy again. Carrillo went for a superplex, but Murphy fought him off. Carrillo landed on his feet and went for it again. Murphy dumped him, face fist this time, and took him down with a sunset flip.

Instead of the cover, Murphy picked him up and dropped him with a sit-out powerbomb. Carrillo kicked out. Both men attempted to suplex each other. Murphy escaped but seemed to injure his knee. The ref kept Carrillo in the corner as he checked on Murphy. Murphy took his knee pads off and attempted to walk off the pain. A second ref came down to inspect Murphy.

Carrillo started to clap for Murphy, who ended up playing possum. Murphy almost sent Carrillo packing with Murphy's Law, but Carrillo escaped. Carrillo sent Murphy outside and hit him with a suicide dive, then drove him head first into the announce table.

Carrillo went for a springboard move, but a jumping knee from the Juggernaut stunned him, allowing the champion to finish him off with Murphy's Law.

Murphy raised his championship high as Carrillo tried to shake off the cobwebs. Murphy was victorious in his open challenge, but would he be victorious at the Royal Rumble on January 27th? Who can stop the unstoppable?
