Why should WWE turn their biggest star heel?

WWE Money in the Bank 2019: 4 Reasons Why Seth Rollins Should Turn Heel

Money in the Bank is just a day away, and anticipation for the event is surprisingly at an all-time low, as the rating crisis WWE is in right now has seriously damaged the product to a certain extent that has changed fans' perception.

However, Money in the Bank is a pay-per-view that is a special event for many WWE fans, and that won't change, but this is an event that will probably make or break WWE in the foreseeable future, as there is so much riding on the decisions WWE makes on this show.

One step in the right direction for WWE will be to turn one of their biggest stars into the best possible version of himself. You probably know who that superstar is by now, as this is a heel turn that isn't for shock value, but for the benefit of Raw. So, let us go through the possible reasons why WWE should turn Seth Rollins heel at the show.

#4 Bland As A Babyface

Rollins is more compelling as a heel.

The problem many people have with WWE's modern product is that it is truly hard to connect to the characters the WWE has created over the last few years. The reason might be in that last sentence, fans are fed up of wrestlers being presented as characters instead of the people themselves.

Now there is some criticism with this line of thinking, as the success of The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock is proof that characters make a wrestler interesting. That is totally accurate, but many of you would have realised that those characters were extensions of those wrestlers.

The Rock is a charismatic individual, Stone Cold is the no-nonsense trash talker, and The Undertaker is the silent badass that lets his in-ring work do the talking. However, in WWE today we are not interested in the characters for one reason, and that because they don't feel natural.

In the case of Seth Rollins, the man was born to play a heel, as his face run has been a hit and miss, however, the in-ring work Rollins has displayed is far better than anything he has to say on the mic. Therefore, by having the former member of The Shield go heel, it will allow him to be presented more naturally, and that will benefit his title reign.

#3 A Leader Is Needed

Who is the man on Raw?

The one thing that is missing on Raw at the moment is a leader, as that has not been the case for just a few months now, it has been a problem WWE has encountered for quite a few years.

Gone are the days when the fans could just identify with ease who the top star on a certain brand was, as the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, and The Undertaker took charge. Now, this comparison is not fair, as most of the superstars on Raw could achieve the same level of success as those legends if the company gave them a fighting chance.

Seth Rollins is one of those superstars that could take charge of a brand if he was booked right, and the first step on getting the Universal Champion on that path is to switch his character from a bland babyface to white-hot heel.

When Rollins returned to the company after his injury in 2015, he was a top-notch heel that felt like a million bucks. That is the type of Rollins WWE needs at the moment, and if they could turn Rollins into that man at Money in the Bank then they should take the chance.

#2 Cutting Credibility

When Rollins lost the IC Title he wandered for a long time.

The one thing about this match between Styles and Rollins is the fact that many feel WWE is pushing this dream match too early on their calendar, as there are countless other bigger pay-per-views that could use this type of matchup to hype it up, but that criticism is of no use, as this match will be taking place as scheduled.

Nevertheless, if there is something to criticize with this match it is the fact that Rollins could lose his title at the event, as the Architect just won the belt from Brock Lesnar a month ago. WWE cutting his reign short damages two things in this situation.

The first being the credibility of the Universal Title, as this is a championship that seen more ups and downs than Finn Balor's WWE run, while the second thing is Rollins' career itself, as Rollins losing the title to Styles will render his reign as a waste that would also paint him as an individual not capable enough of leading the company.

We have seen in the past what happens to stars that lose their World Title in quick fashion (just take a look at Asuka). Rollins turning heel to take down an unbeatable Styles would be a clear cut way for him to save his credibility, as it allows Styles to lose in a manner that won't see him drop any momentum, and Rollins remains champion with a new path ahead.

#1 Styles Is The Next Cena

Styles is money

Turning AJ Styles heel at Money in the Bank has been many people's choice for one of the shocking moments from the show, but when you look at this from a business perspective it just does not seem logical.

Styles is one of the most popular stars in WWE, and while he has not reached mega levels of drawing power such as John Cena, Styles has reached some impressive numbers in terms of merchandise sales, TV ratings, and house show drawing power.

Therefore, while it would be amazing to see heel Styles rip into Rollins at the event, there is too much money to be made with this man as a babyface, but Rollins, on the other hand, can sacrifice his babyface run.

Rollins is extremely popular judging by his drawing ability in different areas, so it's easy to see why WWE put the title on him, but right now it's either Styles or Rollins to bite the bullet as a babyface.

Rollins going heel would be what's best for business at the moment, as we can't have two top babyfaces on Raw without a top heel, and Rollins should be the man to fill that place.
