What's the story

Breaking news coming out of tonight's WWE Elimination Chamber, as we see Bobby Lashley turn on Lio Rush following their loss against Finn Balor, as Balor becomes the newly crowned WWE Intercontinental Champion!

In case you didn't know...

In the weeks leading into the match, Finn Balor and Bobby Lashley became embroiled in a rivalry that escalated into a 2-on-1 advantage, when Finn Balor had the odds stacked up against him as a Handicap Match was booked for tonight's Elimination Chamber with both Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush facing Finn Balor. As per stipulation, if Lio Rush would get pinned or would be forced to submit, Balor could win the Intercontinental Championship from Lashley.

The heart of the matter

Finn Balor defeated Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush tonight to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. Lashley had the match in the bag, but an overzealous Lio Rush tagged himself in and cost Lashley the title, as both Lio and Lashley were quickly taken out by Finn Balor, with "The Demon King" capitalizing on the situation and hitting the Coup De Grace on Lio Rush to get the pinfall victory. A very angry and frustrated Lashley took out his emotions on Lio Rush, as he laid Rush out in the middle of the ring and walked off, much to the amusement and satisfaction of the WWE Universe.

Coming off the heels of Finn Balor winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush at Elimination Chamber, the stage is set for an interesting turn of events as we head into Monday Night RAW.
