WWE News: John Cena speaks out about AEW and the impact it'll have on WWE

What's the story?

Well, AEW may be the hottest three letters in wrestling right now, with their much anticipated Double or Nothing pay-per-view coming up in just over a month - and WWE's John Cena has opened up about how he feels about the promotion.

In case you didn't know...

John Cena may be concentrating more on his Hollywood career nowadays, but his WrestleMania appearance was definitely worth the wait.

Elias' big WrestleMania moment was interrupted by the Doctor of Thuganomics, with John Cena returning to his old gimmick and laying waste to The Drifter - both verbally and physically. However, rumours suggest this was a one-off.

The heart of the matter...

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, John Cena was asked about AEW - and the 16-time World Champion gave a very surprising answer.

"I think competition is great because it forces you to step up or step aside and I think that is fantastic. We have internal competition of performers trying to be the best in our umbrella and that is wonderful because you sink or swim on your own investment."
"I think external competition is great because once again that will force us to step up or step aside and you can say what you want about them being competition or not competition, I view any form of digestible entertainment as competition because your eyes can go elsewhere. So that's how I view that."

Cena also said he thinks the wrestling industry will be the big winner.

"Competition also stands for the state of the wrestling economy and it's really good right now. There are a lot of people overseas and smaller promotions are getting larger and more traction which means you are consuming more sport entertainment and/or wrestling which is great for everything."
