WWE News: Sheamus says he wants Cesaro to become a World Champion

What's the story?

The Bar have been one of the top tag teams in WWE for the last few years. While Sheamus has accomplished a lot in his WWE tenure, he also wants more for his tag team partner, Cesaro.

Sheamus recently spoke with Inside the Ropes and claimed that he'd rather see Cesaro become World Champion than win the Intercontinental Championship for himself. ProWrestling.com carried transcripts.

In case you didn't know...

The Bar has had success as a singles Superstar of the WWE but have recently been one of the top three teams in WWE's tag team divisions.

With the Superstar Shake Up set to take place on Raw and SmackDown next week, several teams may see their time together come to an end.

The heart of the matter

In his WWE career, Cesaro has won the tag team titles a few times as well as the United States Championship.

Sheamus, on the other hand, has had the luxury of defeating both John Cena and Roman Reigns on separate occasions for WWE Titles.

Since he's had more success at the top of the WWE than his partner, 'the Celtic Warrior' would like to see Cesaro finally get his shot.

“I’ve always said, at least in the last couple of years, one title I haven’t won is the Intercontinental Title. But I’d rather see (Cesaro) win the (World Title) than me win the Intercontinental Title. I’d rather see him be the World Champion. He deserves it.”

The WWE Universe has been instrumental in some Superstars getting major title shots, including Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30 and Kofi Kingston at this year's show.

“It’s up to the fans. They make that decision. When they make enough noise about anything, the brass have to listen. It’s just the way it is. Becky, Kofi. Getting to see (Cesaro), any of his singles matches tear it up. No one hits harder or works harder. I’m jealous when we’re in the ring and I watch him do the athletic stuff. Not only is he athletic but he’s probably the strongest guy, pound-for-pound in WWE, and the most innovative as well. And no one has more passion than him.”

When he has been a face, the fans have always been behind 'the Swiss Superman'. His 'Cesaro Swing' still pops the fans and his swing of Ricochet at 'Mania was one of the longest of his career.

What's next?

Cesaro has been featured in one form or fashion in WWE throughout his career, but a lot of fans would have liked to see him get more shots in the main event and at the WWE Championship or Universal Title.

Changing Cesaro back to a face could do wonders for him and could propel him into the title picture, but unfortunately for him and his fans, there are probably different plans in place for him in the immediate future.
