It's hard to see anything but success on the horizon for Kushida

WWE NXT: 5 dream feuds for Kushida

On the latest edition of NXT, the Japanese sensation, Kushida, made his long-awaited debut, and while he didn't show off everything he can do, he gave the WWE Universe a taste of what made him such a star in his native Japan.

The former 6-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion has a great look, charisma, and is one of the most well-rounded in-ring performers in the world today, and after the success that Shinsuke Nakamura experienced on NXT, it's hard to see anything but success on the horizon for Kushida.

With NXT featuring so many dream matches at big TakeOver events, it's easy to look at the roster and want Kushida to face everyone, but today, we've narrowed it down. So read on as we look to the future and 5 dream matches that we'd love to see the Marty McFly cosplay artist have in his time on NXT.

#5 Velveteen Dream

Every new star needs to go through the charismatic North American Champion

When coming to NXT, most new stars may have their own dream matches in mind, but the fans have adopted Velveteen Dream as their own, and every new star needs to go through the charismatic North American Champion.

His in-ring skills may not be up to par with a lot of the independent stars coming into NXT, but his overwhelming character work makes up for it, and a good feud with the Dream is a must on NXT nowadays.

Kushida's English isn't great, so Dream would have to do the bulk of the promo work for this match, but once the bell rings, these two would be electric inside those ropes.

Kushida has a very likable way about him, and the NXT Universe is going to naturally gravitate towards him, so this is a feud that WWE will know needs to happen, and in due time, Kushida could be the man to dethrone him.

#4 Shane 'Swerve' Strickland

Strickland came to NXT in the same class as Kushida

The majority of the people on this list are already established stars on the NXT brand, but given that Kushida is new, we'd enjoy seeing him matched up against another new performer on the NXT brand.

As you can see above, Strickland came to NXT in the same class as Kushida, and when he debuts (he worked a dark match with Trevor Lee at the recent set of tapings), he'll be a superstar in no time.

Both of these men are charismatic in different ways, but Swerve has the X-Factor about him, and a clash of the duo would be iconic, especially if it's saved for a TakeOver event.

WWE has a plethora of young stars waiting down at the Performance Center, but Strickland has the most potential of them all, and a fight with Kushida would be just fantastic, and as both are trying to get their footing in NXT, it would be a way to send them both straight to the top.

#3 Adam Cole

Adam Cole is the uncrowned champion down in NXT, and whether he gets it at the upcoming TakeOver or not, he'll still be a top star, and therefore a big dream match for the iconic Kushida.

As we've mentioned already, Kushida is a very easy performer to get behind, and with all 4 members of The Undisputed Era, it would be easy to gain sympathy for him, so this match makes sense in every possible way.

Ultimately, we'd love to see Kushida face as many possible big stars in NXT (and there are countless at the current point in time), but Cole is the best heel on the brand, and that makes this a perfect clash.

Inside the ring, Kushida is an absolute genius, and Cole has a presence that is unmatched, so this is a match that just has to happen, and even if he has to enlist some help to save himself from Strong, Fish, and O'Reilly, this would be a very interesting bout.

#2 Johnny Gargano

Johnny has become the most well-rounded performer in the entire company

After years and years of scratching and clawing, Johnny Gargano has finally reached the top of the mountain, and now that NXT is his to rule, there's plenty of incredible matches to be had in the coming year.

Johnny has become the most well-rounded performer in the entire company, and with Kushida's years of experience, the two could put on an absolute classic, and if Kushida is pushed properly, this could happen sooner, rather than later.

Johnny Wrestling currently has his hands quite full with The Undisputed Era, and beyond that, there are many challengers for him, but Kushida has to be considered a contender straight out of the blocks.

Out of everyone on this list, Johnny Champion would give Kushida the best match from a pure wrestling standpoint, and if a singles match between the two was saved for a TakeOver event, it would arguably be the best match in WWE NXT history.

#1 Matt Riddle

Before he made it to NXT TV, Kushida actually teamed with Riddle at several NXT house shows, but now that he's made it to the big stage, this is a match that needs to happen as soon as possible.

There are other new talents still on the brand like Dijakovic, Keith Lee, and others waiting in line like Trevor Lee, Shane Strickland, and so on, but given the hype for his debut, Kushida needs to become a big priority.

Both men are physical and able to wrestle different styles, so if given enough time, they could have a physical, fast-paced bout that would be worthy of a TakeOver main event. This one may not happen for a while, as both men will likely be chasing gold in the near future, but when it does happen, both men will be established as future main event stars of WWE.
