Not the most exciting episode, but still an interesting one

WWE NXT: 5 points to note - Big return, Adam Cole makes a major blunder

This week's episode had its moments, both good and not so good. It wasn't the most exciting episode that I've seen, but I daresay that there really hasn't been a bad episode of NXT in a while which is certainly not the case with RAW and SmackDown Live.

I will recap all of the notable elements from this episode, in this very piece. I invite you to leave your thoughts and comments in the section below. I would love to know what you thought of the hour-long showcase of wrestling you were witness to.

Also, do you follow NXT every single week or do you binge it before a TakeOver? I do the latter with shows that I don't have to review every week, and that can be fun too.

Anyway, enough chit-chat...here's my review.

#5 Adam Cole messed up big time

It is no secret that there has been discontent in the ranks for the Undisputed ERA because of various reasons. Adam Cole considers himself to be the leader of the faction and he believes that there is unfinished business between him and NXT Champion, Johnny Gargano even now. He believes that he deserves a Number 1 contender's opportunity over everyone else.

So, he did not seem too happy when his own stable mate Roderick Strong took on Johnny Gargano in a match between two mat maestros, as Mauro Ranallo put it. The match could have gone either way before Adam Cole came out to help his boy, Roderick Strong. But a melee ensued and in the commotion, Cole would inadvertently hit Roderick Strong, laying him out.

This tension should be a very good platform for the weeks to follow. Will the Undisputed ERA break up over the coming episodes?

#4 Epic feud teased between Matt Riddle and Cole

Adam Cole was part of a photoshoot when Matt Riddle interfered and made light of the fact that he was insecure of his own stable mate- Roderick Strong. Cole did not take too kindly to this and thus, a feud was teased. Matt Riddle and Adam Cole will lock horns at some point down the road.

I'm just not sure at what point this will happen, considering that there are so many prospective rivalries for Adam Cole at the moment. You have a feud with Johnny Gargano and I'm guessing NXT is building to a feud with Roderick Strong down the line. But Matt Riddle is very much in the mix and this feud, when it happens, could be exciting.

Both men are incredible in the ring and a contest between them would be extraordinary. I would love to see it.

#3 Kushida's first opponent has been chosen

So guess who made a major return to NXT this week? None other than a certain gentleman who goes by the name Kassius Ohno who's been lighting it up in NXT UK over the past few weeks.

But he's back in NXT and I think he's been assigned the Dolph Ziggler gatekeeper role where all he does is play the part of the first opponent for whoever comes into NXT. I'm almost certain that he's going to lose against Kushida in the latter's debut match on NXT television next week.

I'm guessing that there's just something about Kassius Ohno that has not connected with the NXT Universe and this is why he has been relegated to this rather unfortunate position. He's still, all said and done, one of the best wrestlers in the whole world.

I wonder if he's ever going to be called up.

#2 Kacy Catanzaro earns herself a pretty big win

So Kairi Sane has been called up to the main roster and Dakota Kai is injured right now. There's a great opportunity for the women of NXT to step up and deliver, and they did so on this week's show. Vanessa Borne and Aliyah teamed up to take on Candice LeRae and Kacy Catanzaro in a tag team match.

I genuinely popped at Nigel McGuinness quoting lines from The Tempest, and especially those of the female protagonist Miranda to describe Miss Vanessa Borne. Corey Graves gets just as excited as he does, but the dignified manner in which he acted while expressing his admiration was quite a feat. The other announcers could not contain themselves either and expressed their amusement.

LeRae and Catanzaro picked up the win proving to the world that they're not just Mrs. Gargano and Ricochet's better half.

#1 The Street Profits almost score an upset

When you look like the War Raiders and more importantly when you move as they do, it is not often that you are dominated by your opponents. But this week on NXT TV, The Street Profits took the fight to them from the start and almost scored an upset.

It was interesting to see that the NXT Tag Team Champions are still going by the War Raiders name in NXT right now. So, is the Viking Experience name (or is it Viking Raiders?) only a main roster thing for now?

In conclusion and in keeping with the Shakespearean theme, let me just quote the bard and say that a rose by any other name is just as sweet. Which brings this edition of '5 points to note' to an end, unfortunately.

I wonder whom the Viking Experience will drop their NXT Tag Team Championships to, eventually!
