WWE Raw: 4 Burning questions before this week's episode (July 1, 2019)

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw will emanate from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. A new era will begin from Monday as Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff will start their new roles as Executive Directors of Raw & SmackDown Live, respectively.

With just two weeks left for the Extreme Rules PPV, it will be interesting to see how Paul Heyman will embed himself into the picture and improve the ratings for Raw.

While the Universal & Raw Women's title pictures are already set up, WWE will have to address the situation of the United States & Raw Tag Team Championships. It's possible AJ Styles & the Usos will be the challengers for the titles as they secured pinfall victories over the current champions.

We will also hear Roman Reigns' take on the Undertaker saving him from Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre last week. The fans will also be excited to see what the 24/7 Champion R-Truth will do to keep the title around his waist. With all that in mind, here are the fou burning questions before this week's episode of Raw.

#4 Will Paul Heyman shake things up in his first night at Raw's Executive Director?

Heyman is not new for such roles!

As the former president of ECW, Paul Heyman knows how to run a show if given complete creative freedom. His out of the box approach in to pro-wrestling has produced many iconic moments in the history of the industry.

Heyman has also been the lead writer for SmackDown from July 2002 to February 2003. Heyman himself stated on his 2014 WWE documentary “Ladies and Gentleman, My Name is Paul Heyman” that the SmackDown episodes he wrote had beaten Raw in terms of ratings on multiple occasions.

With a profound background in the industry, Paul Heyman has all it takes to turn things around for the WWE. We will find out in this week’s Raw how the new Executive Director will shake things up for the red brand on his first day in the job.

#3 What will be the fate of the wild card rule?

They are not the best of friends!
Ad

WWE's longtime fans will remember that Paul Heyman & Eric Bischoff don't get along very well as on-screen characters. They have shown complete disdain towards each other during their times as general managers of Raw & SmackDown from 2003 to 2004.

That puts the status of the wild card rule up in the air. If WWE decides to use Heyman & Bischoff as on-screen characters and re-ignite their previous rivalry, neither would like to have superstars from the opposite brands to appear on their shows.

With two Raw superstars challenging for the WWE & SmackDown Women's titles, it will be interesting to see how WWE handles the wild card rule. The best thing they could do is to move Alexa Bliss & Samoa Joe to SmackDown Live if they win their respective title matches at Extreme Rules.

#2 Will Bray Wyatt make an appearance or will he continue to play mind games?

Two eyes are not enough when the Fiend is on the lose!

WWE teased Bray Wyatt disappearing from the Firefly Funhouse on the June 17, 2019, episode of Raw. Since then, speculations of Wyatt's re-debut with his new character has been on this rise. The fans expected Wyatt to show up on last week's Raw, but he chose to act through his funhouse friends.

Bray Wyatt's puppets from the funhouse were seen stalking the WWE superstars on last week's episodes of Raw & SmackDown Live. It is a genius move from WWE to use the puppets to tease Wyatt's return instead of bringing him in straight away.

It will be interesting to see if Bray Wyatt will make his return or if he would take his mind games to the next level on this week's episode of Raw.

#1 How will Roman Reigns react to an unlikely help from the Undertaker?

Why did the Deadman save Roman Reigns?

Roman Reigns received help from an improbable ally in The Undertaker on last week's episode of Raw. The Deadman saved Reigns from a beatdown at the hands of Drew McIntyre & Shane McMahon during a 2-on-1 handicap match.

The Undertaker hasn't explained his motive behind helping Reigns who had defeated the Deadman at WrestleMania 33. Both superstars haven't run into each other since their last encounter which makes it even more interesting to find out why Undertaker saved Reigns on last week's Raw.

It's not clear if the Undertaker will show up on this week's Raw, but Roman Reigns will be there. We can expect the Big Dog to give his take on teaming up with his old rival to take on Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre in a tag team match at Extreme Rules.
