WWE RAW: 5 mistakes Vince McMahon shouldn't make with Bray Wyatt's new character

I know that everyone's talking about RAW Reunion right now. And as exciting as the reappearance of the legends on RAW is, I'm far more kicked to see what The Fiend does, this week.

Unfortunately, the history of professional wrestling is full of supernatural characters who could have been megastars but because of bad booking, they hit a ceiling. Vince McMahon and WWE cannot afford to do this with Bray Wyatt because there is immense potential for this gimmick to succeed.

Bray Wyatt has been quite 'over' at various points in his wrestling career. And because the booking committee was not in his corner, he slipped back into the mid-card again.

Here are 5 things that should certainly be taken into consideration to ensure that this run is a massive success.

#5 Should not lose to Finn Balor at SummerSlam 2019

I mean this is definitely a given, and should not even have to be mentioned as part of this article. Finn Balor is a great competitor and much like Bray Wyatt, he deserves far better than the way that he's been presented in the main roster thus far. He seemed like a far bigger deal when he was in NXT, like a lot of other Superstars.

But under no circumstances must be defeat Bray Wyatt if the two men meet at SummerSlam in a match. I think it's well known at this point that he will not come out as 'The Demon' considering the fact that that side of his persona has been well protected until this point. You may say a lot of negative things about WWE booking, but they know how to protect a character.

Bray Wyatt needs to go over. And he needs to go over in such a manner that it writes Balor off screen, while he takes his break.

#4 Should not lose at WrestleMania either

Now, cast your mind two years back when Bray Wyatt was the reigning WWE Champion. He was on fire at the moment (as was his compound), and the build to his match against Randy Orton was the hottest thing on television, at the point. And then he just lost to Randy Orton and all his momentum fizzled out at once.

This has been a running trend for so many superstars that pick up steam during the year, lose at WrestleMania and then just become lost in the shuffle all at once. I think The Fiend needs a big WrestleMania win. And yes, of course, a big, legendary WrestleMania entrance too.

Bray Wyatt needs to go from strength to strength as the fiend, putting away heels and babyfaces alike. Only then will Vince McMahon be able to do justice to perhaps the best character that WWE's produced in a long, long time.

#3 Should not speak outside the Firefly Fun House promos

I think we can all agree that during his previous WWE stint, Bray Wyatt's promos, as cryptic and mysterious as they were, wore out really quick. But then when the Firefly Fun House segments debuted, you knew that Wyatt was on the verge of introducing something wonderful to the WWE Universe, at last.

I love the duality of Bray Wyatt's character, a children's TV show host and a deranged sociopath (a word that he introduced to the WWE Universe during one of his segments). I believe that this is much like the 3 Faces of Foley, in a way, and can make for some really compelling segments.

This will just separate Bray Wyatt from the rest of the WWE roster. It will make him a special attraction, not just a member, among 'the boys'.

Having him cut cryptic promos will be a step back, I think.

#2 Should not wrestle long, competitive matches at all

I've had the fortune of seeing Bray Wyatt wrestle on a handful of occasions live. By no means is he bad in the ring. But let's just say that he's no AJ Styles or Ricochet necessarily when the bell actually rings.

I thought that one of the biggest mistakes that WWE made with him was booking long and competitive matches in his previous run. Bray Wyatt should be protected not merely in terms of a win-loss record, but also in the amount of time he puts away an opponent during a match. While his Big 4 pay-per-view matches can go longer, his TV matches should not last longer than a few moments, at best.

Wyatt should, in a sense, wrestle like a monster does, putting away his opponents with relative ease. Only then will this character be taken seriously, to any degree.

#1 Should not be part of tag team units or factions going forward

The Wyatt Family must be considered as one of the most dominant and terrifying factions of the modern era.

It was the launching pad for top stars such as Braun Strowman and even Harper and Rowan, who found success as the Bludgeon Brothers soon after (I know that the WWE Universe weren't necessarily fans, but they were booked to look strong).

While opinion may be divided with regard to Bray Wyatt's tag team with Matt Hardy, the fact of the matter is that the duo received a lot of screen time, when they worked with one another. It was outrageous, it was ridiculous, but it was an entertaining run.

But now, all of that must stop, I feel. Wyatt has come into his own as a singles character and grouping him with someone else will just reduce his aura.
