WWE Royal Rumble 2020: 5 Potential finishes for Becky Lynch vs Asuka - RAW Women's Championship

Becky Lynch has not been able to defeat Asuka since she became The Man more than a year ago. The Empress of Tomorrow took Lynch's SmackDown Women's Championship at The Royal Rumble last year and this year she's looking to take the RAW version.

Lynch went on to main event WrestleMania alongside Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair when she later entered The Royal Rumble match, but Asuka went on to become Women's Tag Team Champion and has been a thorn in Lynch's side for several months.

This is the final debt that Lynch has to collect but since The Man has a number of enemies hiding in the shadows, there could be some combustible elements added to this match on Sunday night, after all, it is the beginning of the Road to WrestleMania.

Becky Lynch walks into a match with Asuka for the second consecutive Royal Rumble pay-per-view, last year The Man walked into The Royal Rumble as the SmackDown Women's Champion but didn't walk out with the title after Asuka forced her to tap to a modified version of the Asuka Lock.

Over the past year, Lynch has become one of the company's biggest stars and now is looking to prove that she can defeat The Empress of Tomorrow. Lynch asked for the match against Asuka and it appears that Asuka wants to prove that she's still one of the best female wrestlers in the company since she accepted.

Given the run that Lynch has been on and the fact that the Champion is expected to defend her Championship at WrestleMania, the most likely outcome is for Lynch to retain her Women's Championship and finally collect that debt from the Japanese star.

#4. Asuka becomes RAW Women's Champion

Asuka currently one half of the Women's Tag Team Champions, something that seems to have been forgotten in the build to this match. Asuka was also once undefeated for more than a year on the main roster and throughout her entire run as NXT Women's Champion.

Asuka may have been on quite a downward spiral in recent months but if WWE wanted to push The Empress of Tomorrow into a main event picture as the RAW Women's Champion then she's more than capable.

Given recent rumors regarding the fact that Kairi Sane and Io Shirai are unhappy in WWE then it wouldn't be a shock if the company tried to make amends for this by giving Asuka the one Women's Championship in WWE that she's yet to win.

Asuka has been overlooked ever since she was unable to dethrone Carmella for the SmackDown Women's Championship a few years ago so she more than deserves a push into the main event picture heading into WrestleMania since The Empress of Tomorrow is yet to leave her stamp in the yearly extravaganza.

#3. Interference from Kairi Sane helps Asuka win

Will Kairi Sane be a deciding factor?

Kairi Sane has been in the shadows over the past few weeks since she was injured back TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs and both Charlotte and Becky Lynch were then forced to look after her throughout the match to avoid further injury.

Sane returned a few weeks ago following the concussion and was able to face Becky Lynch last night on RAW where she became an example to Asuka when Lynch forced her to tap out. Despite being made to look weak, the former NXT Women's Champion shouldn't be overlooked since she's expected to be at ringside and could be the difference-maker.

Becky Lynch doesn't have any friends, but Asuka does which means that if the Women's Tag Team Champion wants to insert herself into the match behind the referees back then this match could essentially become a two-on-one match and it could be the reason Asuka is able to win the RAW Women's Championship.

At the same time, it's just as likely that Sane could either accidentally or intentionally cost Asuka the Championship as well since there are so many different storylines WWE could choose heading into WrestleMania.

#2. Shayna Baszler costs Becky Lynch her RAW Women's Championship

Will Shayna Baszler appear at The Royal Rumble?

The WWE Universe hasn't forgotten what Becky Lynch did to Shayna Baszler after The Queen of Spades was able to defeat her and Bayleyat Survivor Series. Following the tri-brand pay-per-view, their feud was put on ice as Lynch returned to RAW and Baszler to NXT, but now that Baszler has dropped her Women's Championship to Rhea Ripley, there is nothing stopping her from being promoted at The Royal Rumble.

Many fans believe that Baszler will take the smart route and go into The Royal Rumble match so that she can choose to face Becky Lynch at WrestleMania, but what if Baszler decides that this isn't about Championships? The Submission Magician could decide to cost Lynch the title in her match against Asuka so that they can then go on to have a good old fashioned fight where she won't lift the Women's Championship if she's victorious since that would be too much too soon for Baszler following promotion.

#1. Ronda Rousey returns

Will Ronda Rousey return?
Ad

Perhaps the most far fetched prediction for the match, but it's one that has to be looked at since there's a reason why Becky Lynch still has the Championship she took from Ronda Rousey around her waist.

Rousey was pinned by Lynch at WrestleMania back in April but even though The Man went on to drop the SmackDown Women's Championship, she's kept Rousey's title and this has lead to hope that Rousey will come knocking one day soon.

There were rumors that stated that Rousey could return and win the Royal Rumble so that she could get that re-match with Lynch, but she's Ronda Rousey, she doesn't need to win the Rumble to get a re-match, she could just walk in and decide that she wants that title back and honestly there is no one who can stop her.

Rousey is still the favorite to win the Women's Royal Rumble match at present, but her status for the show still remains unknown, so a return is definitely still possible
