#6. Triple H and The Undisputed Era say goodbye to Cathy Kelly after NXT Takeover: Portland

Ad

Cathy Kelly's last Q&A session with Triple H was a very emotional one as it was the popular backstage interviewer's final day in the company,

Kelly broke down as Triple H thanked her for giving her all towards making NXT one of the best wrestling shows on earth. Triple H added that he expects to see Kelly somewhere down the road as she will always be a part of the NXT family.

The Undisputed Era joined the touching farewell segment and made Kelly the honorary fifth member of the faction.

Cathy Kelly ends her four-year stint with the company and we at Sportskeeda wish her all the best for her future.

As we had reported earlier, Kelly put in her release request weeks ago and WWE respected her decision.

#5. Goldberg may not wrestle at WrestleMania 36

Goldberg is all set to face The Fiend for the Universal Championship at Super ShowDown at the end of the month. However, as speculated by Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, the former WCW Champion may not compete at WrestleMania 36.

WWE already has John Cena and The Undertaker working at the Show of Shows and they may not need Goldberg's star power.

Meltzer also explained that getting Goldberg back and the implications on a big WrestleMania match is a disconcerting indictment of the current product.

Well, I mean, I guess Goldberg's probably not going to be on the WrestleMania card. It's just going to be Cena and Undertaker as the special guests.
It's just weird, we're getting too much of these, too much of these special guests all at once, you know what I mean and it's such a sad thing. The Goldberg thing was really sad to me because it was so clear that you've been building up Bray Wyatt and he's the most creative new character that they have, it's tough.

His matches aren't that good other than the Daniel Bryan matches, but he's such a great character and he's over, he sells a lot of merch, and everything like that and he's been protected more than anyone on the roster and yet, Bill Goldberg comes back against him and obviously the winner is going to face the winner of the Elimination Chamber, which is certainly at this point scheduled to be Roman Reigns.
when you think about it, there would be more interest, even now, in Goldberg and Roman Reigns than The Fiend. And what does that tell you about the idea that all those guys from the past are like, they can't make stars, like people's nostalgia for the past, is stronger than the current and that's a real indictment of the product to me, but, there you go.

#4. Two veterans returning on the next episode of RAW

As reported by PWInsider, Big Show and MVP are set to appear on the upcoming episode of RAW.

Big Show last showed up on the episode of RAW on January 13th when he was involved in a six-man tag team match. Seth Rollins and his heel faction unleashed a beatdown on the giant, effectively writing him off TV. Kevin Owens, however, did confirm that Show will make his comeback and that is set to happen this week.

The 7-time World Champion is expected to re-join Owens and Joe in their battle against The Monday Night Messiah's stable.

When it comes to MVP, the former United States Champion revived The VIP Lounge on the last episode of RAW.

He also confirmed during a recent appearance on Booker T's podcast, that he has taken up the role of a backstage producer in the company. MVP also added that he will be open to TV appearances.

“Well, look, I'll say this. I'm gonna go ahead, I'm gonna give you the scoop. Whether or not I'll be seen on WWE television more has yet to be seen, because, you know, I don't make those decisions. I would definitely make myself available for an on-screen role in some capacity. But I'll be joining the team as a backstage producer, so, there's your scoop.” (H/T Fightful)

#3. Former UFC Champion training at the WWE Performance Center

As revealed by Dave Meltzer on a recent WOR, former UFC star Tito Ortiz has been training at the WWE Performance Center.

The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion has reportedly impressed the WWE officials with his work ethic and enthusiasm and it's being said that the 45-year-old UFC Hall of Famer is serious about transitioning to a career in pro wrestling at such an advanced age.

Ortiz has been a long-time fan of professional wrestling and he has mentioned his desire to mix it up with Superstars such as Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman in the past.

Here's what Meltzer had to say on the WOR:

Tito Ortiz is training to be a professional wrestler at the Performance Center as we speak. Maybe not right this moment, but he was there all week, and I heard great things about his work ethic and enthusiasm which doesn't surprise me. The negative I see is Tito Ortiz is 45 years old.
And he's got a really bad neck. And a bad back. And you know, things like that, but you know, yeah, he wants to be a pro wrestler, and you know, if he was 35, it'd be one thing. I mean like, DDP always talks about he was 35 when he started, which is kind of true. He trained earlier though, but he never really got a break and Bad News Alan was 36 maybe when he started. Maybe he was 35, and he ended up having a very good long career too. But 45 start? Has anyone started at 45?

More power to him if he can make it. I just worry about the injuries. I mean he's had so many injuries and again, it's not easy on your body at all. And starting at that age and learning the thing, he's a charismatic guy, but his talking is not the best. So, I don't know.

#2. John Cena's WrestleMania 36 opponent

As confirmed by Dave Meltzer, John Cena will wrestle at WrestleMania 36 and his opponent has been revealed to be Elias.

Cena had a segment with Elias at last year's WrestleMania and WWE's creative team has decided to follow up on the angle by having a match this year.

Meltzer: Cena is going to wrestle at WrestleMania this year, so they will probably shoot the angle for that.

Alvarez: Who is he wrestling?

Meltzer: Who's he wrestling? I'll tell you tomorrow because I actually have been told but, it's not like I don't believe it, I know it's probably true, but I can't believe it, put it that way! But it's so underwhelming it's ridiculous and absolutely confusing it makes no sense.

Alvarez: Sounds like it's either Corbin or Elias.

Meltzer: Okay, it's not Corbin. So there you go.

Meltzer also noted that the idea is that losing to Cena will help Elias' career.

#1. The Undertaker picks his WrestleMania opponent

WrestleZone's report about The Undertaker facing AJ Styles at WrestleMania was recently confirmed by Dave Meltzer.

WrestlingNews.co's Paul Davis also added that The Undertaker picked AJ Styles as he sees The Phenomenal One as the Modern-Day Shawn Michaels.

The dream match between The Phenom and The Phenomenal One should be a great one if everything goes according to plan.

Are you guys hyped or what?

What makes Sting special? His first AEW opponent opens up RIGHT HERE.
