Per PWInsider, former WWE SmackDown head writer Brian James aka Road Dogg is set to take an "extended break" from the WWE.

Apparently, Road Dogg is likely to spend time away from WWE, after having recently resigned from his post of head writer of SmackDown Live.

Brian "Road Dogg" James is perhaps best known to fans for being a member of D-Generation X as well as The New Age Outlaws.

Road Dogg has competed in the sport of professional wrestling since the year 1986, and has performed for several notable promotions including the WWE as well as TNA (now: Impact Wrestling).

The heart of the matter

Road Dogg has been working as a producer and subsequently head writer of the SmackDown Live brand in the WWE, since his return to the company in 2014.

On that note, the WWE's 2019 Hall of Fame class included D-Generation X; and witnessed the stable's members such as Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chyna, X-Pac, Billy Gunn, and Road Dogg being inducted into the company's Hall of Fame.

While the aforementioned Hall of Fame ceremony took place during WrestleMania 35 weekend, the professional wrestling community was surprised when news broke regarding Road Dogg having stepped down as head writer of SmackDown, around the time of D-Generation X's Hall of Fame induction.

PWInsider now asserts that Road Dogg is indeed taking an "extended break" from the WWE.

Moreover, the belief is that Road Dogg is likely to assess his future in the company, during his time away, before he eventually returns to the WWE.
