Roman Reigns and The Usos make for a formidable combination

WWE SmackDown: 5 Reasons why Vince McMahon reunited Roman Reigns with The Usos

Roman Reigns has always claimed that whichever WWE brand he's on automatically becomes his yard, but sometimes he shares this yard with fellow babyfaces. Ever since The Usos have returned, they've been allied in a faction with The Big Dog and the group has made for a very formidable faction indeed.

We all know that they're part of the same bloodline but there may be a lot more to their union than meets the eye. Vince McMahon and his genius cohort Bruce Prichard put this faction together and they may have had a few good reasons for doing so in my opinion at least.

So, let me weigh in and elaborate upon the reasons for this union. Once again, I claim to have no inside knowledge but I've been covering pro wrestling for many years now and I do believe that I may have an inkling with regard to how WWE books their babyfaces.

#5 To even the numbers against King Corbin's evil heel faction

Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard have told many outstanding stories through the years on WWE television. Right now, the ongoing story is of a corrupt and immoral King of the Ring winner who's taking on the righteous top babyface in WWE. However, Baron Corbin has surrounded himself with some of the finest heels that SmackDown has to offer.

So, the storyline reason for the union is that Roman Reigns needs backup and what better backup do you have when the chips are down than your family? Of course, Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard have reasons beyond this obvious one and we shall explore all of them in this article.

But this is clearly the primary reason.

#4 Replacement for The Shield

When you think of WWE in the modern era, it is impossible to top The Shield in terms of impact, and in terms of just how they influenced the business. And at no point am I going to say that Roman Reigns and The Usos are as cool as The Shield were, but they are a worthy replacement in terms of a dominant babyface faction.

There's almost no chance that Dean Ambrose will be returning to WWE in the near future because he has a pretty cool gig with AEW and really seems to be enjoying a lot. And so, a Shield reunion is pretty much not possible at the moment unless they decide to do a reboot with a brand new member like Aleister Black or Mustafa Ali.

But even if that were the case, Seth Rollins is a heel and Vince McMahon/Paul Heyman may not want him to become a babyface for the sake of a Shield reunion.

In any case, this is a replacement, watered-downed version of The Shield, which, to be honest, is quite popular with WWE fans.

#3 Allows The New Day to turn heel when Xavier Woods returns

It is extremely sad that Xavier Woods has to sit on the sidelines and watch his friends and brothers in The New Day take on The Miz and John Morrison. We all know that he must be itching to get back into the ring, doing what he loves, very soon.

But when he does return, it presents The New Day with a very interesting possibility. Many people are bored of The New Day as babyfaces and they believe that this heel trio could honestly do a wonderful job if they were to be eventually turned heel on WWE SmackDown.

I can't imagine Kofi Kingston not getting into the title picture and I'm guessing that he will do so against Roman Reigns after the Big Dog becomes the Universal Champion. This is, of course, assuming that Roman Reigns is in line to win the Royal Rumble and challenge The Fiend at WrestleMania 36.

So when Roman Reigns takes on Kofi Kingston, with The New Day at ringside for support, he'll need some backup too, and who better than The Usos?

#2 The tag team title picture is already very busy

And speaking of The New Day, I have to say that they're in the other hot feud on SmackDown at the moment with The Miz and the returning John Morrison. Anyone who's followed Morrison during his time in Impact Wrestling knows that he hasn't lost a step but it was great to see the WWE Universe in shock and awe as Morrison demonstrated just how good he truly is.

My point is that The New Day seems to be in the tag team title picture right now with Miz and John Morrison.

So, there would have been no point in bringing back The Usos as tag team competitors considering the fact that The New Day are babyfaces and also, engaged in a feud. WWE did the right thing by having Roman Reigns team up with The Usos and enter the other big storyline that's happening on the blue brand.

WWE is all about telling stories and they're telling a fun story at the top of the card with Roman Reigns and King Corbin, with the supporting cast also having the limelight shone on them, in the process.

#1 Brings back The Usos in a pretty prominent position

Of course, I'm not the only writer here at Sportskeeda and you can hear two of our best, Tom Colohue and Korey Gunz discuss the return of The Usos in the podcast that I have linked above in great detail. It may help you gain additional perspective in terms of their contracts and the number of dates that they are supposed to work in a year.

However, coming back to the point I'm trying to make, WWE is not suffering from a lack of talent but an overdose of it, at this particular point in time. Superstars like Eric Young were prominently-featured stars during their time outside the company but can't find a place for themselves in the current setup at all, I'm afraid.

So, to have brought The Usos back in such a position that they can go straight to the hottest storyline on television is always a good thing. Roman Reigns is the face of the company and anything he does always gets a lot of attention.

Plus like I said before, they all belong to the same bloodline!
