This year's Survivor Series has made history already

WWE Survivor Series 2019: 5 Interesting little-known facts heading into the show

Survivor Series 2019 is going to be making history when it heads to the Rosemont, Illinois this weekend since this is the first time in the show's 33 year history that NXT will be part of the show.

The buildup over the past few weeks has proved that the WWE Universe is in for a treat when it comes to watching War Games the night before NXT then invades the main roster once more for their headline show of the weekend.

Survivor Series will also see Bray Wyatt put on The Fiend mask once again and step up to the challenge of Daniel Bryan, whilst Brock Lesnar will be defending his WWE Championship against another small star in the form of Rey Mysterio.

There are a number of triple threat matches that make up the rest of the show, with NXT including themselves in all other matches on the card. Whilst this year's Survivor Series will be making history this weekend for obvious reasons, here are some other interesting facts about the show.

Brock Lesnar was defeated by Goldberg back in 2016 when the duo took part in a match that promoted WWE2K17 with the tagline that "Fantasy Warfare becomes reality." The match was over in a minute and a half and Goldberg was the one picking up the win, which later led to a WrestleMania showdown between the two men.

In recent years, whilst Lesnar has definitely struggled to pick up wins over the smaller stars on WWE's roster, he has still been able to defeat both AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan. These two men proved that Lesnar finds it hard to wrestle against smaller opponents, which could come into play this weekend when Lesnar takes on Rey Mysterio with the WWE Championship on the line.

#4 Survivor Series works out like an NXT alumni event

It's interesting that WWE has decided to pit Raw against SmackDown against NXT this year at Survivor Series since at least 75 percent of the main roster is currently made up of NXT graduates.

The only real stars who are part of the main roster who didn't come from NXT right now are the ones who have been tenured to the company longer than NXT has existed or were able to bypass the developmental division all together to make their debut.

This means that even though NXT are the enemy of the main roster heading into Survivor Series, there are only five stars on the card who didn't come through NXT to get to WWE.

Those are Brock Lesnar, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and Mustafa Ali. Given the fact that there are still many names left to be announced but there are already 31 names announced on the show and 26 of them are former NXT stars shows just how much of an impact Triple H's vision has had on the company over the past few years.

#3 Ricochet, The Viking Raiders, Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, and Nikki Cross are making their main show Survivor Series debuts

Whilst there are a number of NXT stars making their main roster debuts this coming weekend, there are also a number of WWE stars who have never performed as part of the show before.

Interestingly, all of the stars who are making their debut this year all come from NXT at one point. Viking Raiders are former NXT Tag Team Champions, whilst Ricochet is a former North American Champion. Dana Brooke was part of the NXT brand alongside the old breed of women's wrestlers whilst Nikki Cross and Lacey Evans were only recently promoted to the main roster, which is why they have never appeared at Survivor Series.

This year, Evans, Cross, and Brooke will all be part of the Women's Survivor Series match as they take on both Raw and NXT whilst representing SmackDown, whilst Ricochet will be representing Team Raw for the men and The Viking Raiders will be fighting to prove that they are the best Tag Team in the company when they take on both The New Day and Undisputed Era in a Triple Threat match.

#2 This is the first time Becky Lynch and Bayley have been Champions at Survivor Series

Becky Lynch and Bayley may be two of the original NXT Four Horsewomen, but they are the two women that were somewhat overlooked whilst Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair dominated the Women's Division when they were first promoted.

This could be why this is the first time that both women are walking into a Survivor Series even with a Championship around their waists. Last year Lynch was forced to miss the show when she was injured by Nia Jax ahead of the event and then had to choose Charlotte Flair as her replacement to battle Ronda Rousey instead.

Bayley has only ever been part of the traditional five-on-five women's elimination match as part of the show in recent years since she has only recently been able to recieve a push of her own since she was drafted over to the SmackDown brand.

This weekend both women will collide as Shayna Baszler makes her Survivor Series debut in a triple threat match to determine who the best Women's Champion in the company truly is.

#1 This isn't the first time NXT has invaded Survivor Series

The Shield invaded Survivor Series for the first time back in 2012

Whilst this is definitely the first time that the NXT roster has been on the card for one of the company's biggest events of the year, this isn't the first time that the developmental brand has felt the need to send a message to the main roster.

Back in 2012 one of the biggest debuts in the history of the company took place when NXT stars Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns made their way to the ring and attacked Ryback when he was in a Championship match against CM Punk.

At the time it looked as though NXT was invading WWE, but it was later revealed that teh three stars had been moved up to the main roster following this debut. The Shield still returned to the developmental brand a few times after they were promoted since Seth Rollins was still NXT Champion at the time.

The group later went on to become one of WWE's most dominant stables, but have since disbanded. This year will be very different since NXT has actually been invited to the party.
