WWE TLC 2019 Preview: Grudge match to end in controversial fluke, Huge Royal Rumble title match to emerge from main event?

Welcome to the final WWE PPV preview of 2019! While we still have a few more RAW and SmackDown previews to come, this happens to be the final PPV of the year. There isn't too much hype around the card and for some odd reason, there's not one match that will feature a singles title being defended!

That's a rare occurrence and we don't remember when the last time that ever happened. But if you read our Previews before PPVs, we always mention the weird theory that somehow holds - when there's a lot of hype for a PPV, it often disappoints, while PPVs that lack hype usually deliver - perhaps due to the low expectations surrounding them.

Survivor Series was one exception to that however, with most matches on the card delivering in a big way. TLC has a big PPV to follow up and we believe that it's going to be one of those cards that ends up delivering.

Without dragging it out much further, let's look at the card that lies ahead of us tonight!

#7. Rusev vs Bobby Lashley - Tables match

It finally comes to a head!

The grudge match that fans have been dreading will take conclude tonight at TLC. Or will it? Many, including us, believed that Lashley's rumored arm injury would mean that the feud would end quicker, but that might not be the case.

After agreeing for a divorce, Rusev is a free and happy man and had the last laugh on RAW when he sent Lashley through a table. Tables matches are a bit risky. Just ask John Cena and Becky Lynch, both of whom were in a comfortable spot before going through a table and losing their titles.

We believe something similar will happen, with Lashley getting a controversial fluke victory.

#6. The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair - TLC Match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship

The main event?

In our opinion, this match should be the main event of TLC and we expect it to be as well. It was only last year when Becky Lynch defended the SmackDown Women's Championship against Asuka and Charlotte Flair, with The Empress dethroning The Man to become the Champion.

This time, Asuka is a titleholder, but so is Kairi Sane and together, The Kabuki Warriors have been dominant as RAW Tag Team Champions. Their beef over the past couple of months has been with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

While Flair first asked Lynch for her help, their hatred for each other meant that Lynch would refuse. However, she made the mistake of accepting a handicap match and stood no chance at the end. Though she won by DQ, the numbers game would catch up to her and she went through a table, finally accepting The Queen's help.

The Champions then issued the challenge and it's now official. We can't be sure of who wins, but what we do know is that a RAW Women's title match between Becky Lynch and Asuka for the Royal Rumble will emerge from this contest.

#5. The Viking Raiders' open challenge

The Viking Raiders

The Viking Raiders, currently the RAW Tag Team Champions, will be holding an open challenge for their titles. It's going to be an interesting one as few have come close to beating the team.

We fully expect their challenge to be answered by 2-time RAW Tag Team Champions The OC - Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson. However, we don't expect them to win. The Viking Raiders will simply run through them as they have with other teams.

#4. Aleister Black vs Buddy Murphy

The show-stealer?
Ad

This hasn't gotten a lot of attention and it's a shame because we believe it could be the sleeper match of the night. Aleister Black has been looking for a fight for months now and has gotten a challenge from Buddy Murphy.

The Australian former Cruiserweight Champion has had momentum on his side following big wins recently, most notably over Matt Hardy. We fully expect Black to walk out the victor but Murphy will be one to take the Dutchman to his limit.

With that said, we don't believe that Murphy can escape the wrath of the Black Mass.

#3. The New Day (c) vs The Revival - Ladder match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship

New Champions?
Ad

This is the match that should open the show. When you have two of the best tag teams in the world going at it in a ladder match, you know that there's nothing better to kick off the show in a big way.

We expect this to be a banger of a contest and it's perhaps the best chance to see a title change on the card (of which we expect not more than one or two).

Will The Revival be able to dethrone The New Day?

#2. Roman Reigns vs King Corbin - TLC match

Roman Reigns looks for revenge
Ad

This is a match in which we don't understand why there's a TLC stipulation. There's not even any title hanging in the air. Either way, it's a grudge match that required a big stipulation and it now has it with Roman Reigns looking to get revenge on King Corbin after the latter, along with Dolph Ziggler, poured dog food all over him.

There have been rumors that this could be the main event but we hope it isn't. We expect Reigns to walk out victorious after having to fight through both Corbin and Dolph Ziggler.

#1. Bray Wyatt vs The Miz

Bray Wyatt - not The Fiend
Ad

The Universal Championship isn't on the line, but we must admit that we're taking a lot of personal interest in this match. It was no secret that Bray Wyatt wanted Daniel Bryan to have a rematch against him and from the looks of things, Bryan wanted that as well.

Instead, The Fiend's recklessness has rendered Daniel Bryan unfit to compete and The Miz took responsibility to try and find out what happened. Instead, he got sucked into a trap, with Wyatt getting personal and messing with The Miz's family affairs, something that The A-Lister has taken offense to.

The title isn't on the line but The Miz is going to look to get a big victory over The Fiend. This is as personal as it gets and it all stems from Wyatt being jealous of The Miz having a family - something that he once had.

We won't be seeing The Fiend but it'll be the man Bray Wyatt himself wrestling for the first time in roughly 16 months. Will we see Daniel Bryan return? Will The Miz stand a chance? Find out tonight on TLC!
