This may not be the end of the feud between Edge and Orton

WWE WrestleMania 36: 5 potential finishes for Edge vs Randy Orton - Last Man Standing Match

WrestleMania 36 takes place in less than five days time and whilst the majority of the world is in lockdown due to the effects of COVID-19, it appears that all eyes will still be on WWE on both Saturday and Sunday night since WWE has scraped together a show despite much of their roster being in quarantine or self-isolation.

The likes of Rey Mysterio, Dana Brooke, Andrade, Murphy, The Miz and even The Authors of Pain have all been pulled from the show due to either illness or injury (or because they've self-isolated themselves), but somehow WWE has been able to paper over the cracks and still put together and intriguing show.

One of the most anticipated matches on the card sees former Tag Team partners Edge and Randy Orton collide in a Last Man Standing match after The Viper showed signs of making his return when he attacked The Rated R Superstar following his return back at The Royal Rumble in January.

There are a number of combustible elements that have contributed to the build-up to this match, which means that there could be some interesting outcomes.

#5. Edge is the Last Man Standing

Edge officially retired from in-ring competition back in 2011 but the former 11-time World Champion was able to recieve clearance from his doctors to make his return to the ring back in 2019, which allowed him to begin his training at a secret location.

The Rated R Superstar then shocked the world when he made his return to the ring at The Royal Rumble, but was then cut down by Randy Orton before he was truly able to get started on his return to action.

A Last Man Standing match gives Edge's Rated R persona a clear advantage here if he's able to reach down deep and remember what it was that made him one of the greatest heels in WWE history. Edge has a lot to fight for given what Orton has taken from him in recent months and could easily be seen as the most acceptable victor.

#4. The match ends in a double ten count

Randy Orton looks as though he has returned to his Viper persona, which means that he is going to throw everything at Edge this weekend and The Rated R Superstar is obviously going to respond.

A Last Man Standing match doesn't mean that there will definitely be one man walking out, it just means that this match won't be answering to any of the usual wrestling rules. In the past, personal matches like these have been known to end in a double 10 count.

Edge and Orton have a lot of history and given the fact that Edge has waited almost a decade to make his return to the ring and be part of a WrestleMania match once more, it would make sense if this match ends in a double finish and then the two men are able to rehash this feud over the next few months, and finally put the exclamation point on their rivalry at SummerSlam.

If this is Edge's final wrestling match then it deserves to be in front of a live crowd and not as part of a pre-taped show in front of an empty arena.

#3. Randy Orton is the Last Man Standing

Let's be honest, Edge has been training to make his WWE return for around a year now but he hasn't come up against anyone like Randy Orton. Edge was able to withstand the Royal Rumble because it's a much easier match to step into after spending a decade on the sidelines.

Edge is yet to have a one-on-one match since his return and given the fact that Orton has already shown that he has nothing holding him back right now, this match type definitely speaks to The Viper's more sadistic side.

If anyone is going to come out on top in this match then believably it would have to be Randy Orton, since he was the man who instigated the entire feud and has shown that he has it in him to do what needs to be done to Edge to win his match.

Randy Orton has been performing live on WWE TV every week for the last 10 years whilst Edge was on the sidelines, he's more than prepared for this match, but is Edge?

#2. MVP returns to help Randy Orton

This match has been building ever since Edge's Royal Rumble return and it has included a number of other stars. Whilst it's highly unlikely that Matt Hardy will be making his return following the attack that he suffered at the hands of Orton a few weeks ago, MVP could make his return in order to aid The Viper.

MVP wanted to help Edge when he was part of RAW a few weeks back, but he mentioned Edge's wife Beth Phoenix and this unleashed the beast inside The Rated R Superstar which caused Edge to attack MVP and deliver both an RKO to the former United States Champion, followed by a Con-Chair-To.

MVP's deal with WWE is currently unknown but if WWE wants to pull off a swerve in order to prolong the feud between these two men so that they can meet again at SummerSlam, then interference from MVP to help Orton pick up the win (would be within in the rules), and would allow the rivalry to continue.

#1. Beth Phoenix gets her revenge

Beth Phoenix has played a huge part in the feud between these two men since Edge noted a few weeks ago that he sent his wife to announce his retirement from the company but because Randy Orton attacked her, it forced him to change his mind.

Phoenix is a WWE Hall of Famer and a former Women's Champion which means that she could definitely hold her own in a match against Randy Orton if it came down to it.

Since Sportskeeda is refusing to post or view WrestleMania spoilers, it's unknown as to whether or not Beth Phoenix is part of the show this weekend, but if Edge is in need of assistance at any point during the match then his wife would be the perfect addition to the match.

Phoenix needs to gain some kind of revenge on Orton for that RKO on RAW last month and rumors suggest that the former Champion is expected to get her own back on Orton in some way, could she be the difference-maker in this bout?
