Gear up for the Chennai Triathlon 2015

Chennai: In keeping with the theme of spreading sports awareness and healthy lifestyle, the Tamil Nadu Triathlon Association and Chennai Trekking Club, a non-profit volunteer based organization, which regularly conducts outdoor sporting events, have jointly come forward to organize a Chennai Triathlon on August 8 and 9 near Agni College of Engineering and Ottiyambakkam on the OMR road.

Over 300 triathletes from various parts of the country and also institutions and Services are expected to take part in this gruelling sport which comprises swimming, cycling and running. The competitions will be conducted in three different levels: Sprint: 750m swim, 20km cycling, 5km running (on Saturday); Olympic: 1.5km swim, 45 km cycling, 10km running (Sunday); Half Iron: 1.9 km swim, 90km cycling, 21 km running (Sunday).

The swimming phase will be conducted in the open water quarry , about a kilometer from the college. Safety ropes and other measures have been put in place. The cycling will done along the OMR highway starting from the quarry and ending back at the college with varying distances in keeping with the levels of competition. The running section will be done on a stretch close to the college with start and ending points in the campus.
