Inderjeet Singh wins gold medal at the 2015 World University Games

Inderjeet Singh has been in unbelievable form

India’s Inderjeet Singh continued his sensational gold rush, securing yet another top-of-the-podium finish, this time at the World University Games,that is being played in Gwangju, South Korea.

The 26-yar-old athlete from Haryana. didnt get off to the best of starts in the final, committing a foul in his first attempt, but bounced superbly in his next attempts, with a 18.79 m throw in the 2nd, 18.95m in the 3rd. The most crucial attempt, though, turned out to be the 5th one, where he produced a throw of 19.80m to go from 6th position to 2nd.

His 6th and final throw though all but sealed the deal as he produced an effort of 20.27m to go well ahead of the then leader Alexander Bulanov and clinch the Gold medal.

This is now Inderjeet’s 6th Gold in the last 2 months. He clinched the first of his 6 medals at the Federation Cup in Mangalore, where he produced an effort of 20.65m and also qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Then at the Asian Athletics Championships, Inderjeet struck gold once again, this time with a distance of 20.41m. At the recently concluded Asian Grand Prix Games, Inderjeet was only one, along with Jinson Johnson from India, to have won a gold medal in all the three legs. Inderjeet also broke the Grand Prix record in the second leg with a throw of 19.85m.

Gaga Andrei Marius of Romania finished second with a best throw of 19.92m while Bulanov finished third with a best of 19.84m. India;s other representative in the Shot Put, Tajinderpal Singh Toor finished 5th.
