What’s the story?
It is no unknown fact that eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt is a huge football fan. However, the dedicated Manchester United supporter wants to succeed as a professional footballer and play for a top club in Europe.
In a recent interview, the sprint king has even admitted that he has asked former Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson to help him turn his dream into reality.
In case you didn’t know
Bolt, who retired from sprinting in the year 2017 after competing at the World Championships in London, will have a trial in March with Borussia Dortmund which has been organised by sportswear giants Puma, who sponsor the player and the club.
Incidentally, the Jamaican had torn his hamstring in his last ever race and couldn’t cross the finish line. However, Bolt confirmed that he has fully recovered from the injury.
The heart of the matter
Bolt, like always, was very confident ahead of the trials in the German club.
"In March we're going to do a trial with Dortmund and that will determine what I do with that career, which way it goes. If they say I'm good, and that I need a bit of training, I'll do it,” Bolt said in an interview with Sunday Express.
"One of my biggest dreams is to sign for Manchester United. If Dortmund say I'm good enough, I'll crack on and train hard. I've spoken to Alex Ferguson and I told him he needs to put in a good word. He told me if I get fit and ready, he will see what he can do,” the sprinter added.

We will have to wait and see what impression Bolt is able to make when he actually puts his football skills on display at the Dortmund training ground after two months.

It is true that Bolt’s athleticism will help him to an extent when he appears for trials at Dortmund. And with Sir Alex by his side to help him out, it will be interesting to see where he might end up.
