India begin their Japan Open Super Series campaign with a whole host of matches, scheduled for Wednesday. Opening India’s action will be Ajay Jayaram, who will take on the ever-improving Viktor Axelson of Denmark in one of the early games of the day.
Parupalli Kashyap, who didn't have the greatest of campaigns at the World Championships, will also play his opening round match, against the home favourite Takuma Ueda. There will be more Men’s Singles players in action on Wednesday with Kidambi Srikanth taking on Scott Evans of Ireland, HS Prannoy facing off against Wong Wing Ki Vincent and Sai Praneeth taking on Lee Dong Keun of Korea.
In the Women’s Singles category, World No.1 and runners-up at the World Championships Saina Nehwal will take on Busnan Ongbumrungpan of Thailand while PV Sindhu will face Minatsu Mitani of Japan.
There will also be a Women’s Double action with the pairing of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa will take on the Chinese pairing of Zhao Yunlei and Zhong Qianxin while Pradnya Gadre and Sikki Reddy will have Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi of Japan.
