Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy through to the semifinals of the US Open Grand Prix Gold

Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy continued their fantastic run

The Indian doubles pair of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy progressed through to the semifinals of the US Open Grand Prix Gold after beating Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge of Great Britain 22-20 21-13 in the quarterfinals, in just 42 minutes on Friday.

Game 1 saw both pairs win 2 of the first 4 points each but it was the duo of Attri and Reddy, who were first to break the deadlock, winning 3 points on the trot to go 7-4 up. In the next few points, both pairs exchanged leads, with the English pair even winning 4 points consecutively to got from being 16-12 down to 16-16.

Both pairs reached a deadlock at the 18-18 mark, which is where the Indian duo stepped their game by a notch, first winning 2 points straight to make it 20-20 and then holding their nerve to win couple of more points to take the game 22-20.

The second game proved to be a lot less stressful one for the Indians as they raced away to an early 3-0 lead They continued to maintain the advantage on their opponents and completely took the game away from their opponents at the 10-10 mark, winning 4 points at a stretch first and then following that with another streak of 4 points to dominate proceedings and eventually seal the game and the match in their favour.

The will now take on the Japanese pair of Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda in the semis.
