Angels star Ohtani to be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks
Angels star Shohei Ohtani will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks, Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia told reporters on Monday.
Ohtani was originally placed on the disabled list with a UCL sprain on June 8.
Ohtani's elbow injury was discovered after he left his start on June 6 with a blister. The Angels said following the diagnosis that Ohtani would be re-examined in three weeks. But that timeframe has been pushed back, Scioscia said.
The Angels are hoping Ohtani can avoid undergoing Tommy John surgery.
The 23-year-old two-way player has registered a 4-1 record with a 3.10 ERA in nine starts on the mound this season. He has also slashed .289/.372/.535 with six homers and 20 RBIs at the plate.
The Angels enter their game on Monday against the Diamondbacks with a 38-34 record. They have lost six of their last seven games.
