Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is determined to beat the city of Boston following the Red Sox and New England Patriots' success.

MLB All-Star and World Series champion Bregman has not forgotten Houston's loss to the Red Sox in the American League Championship Series last season.

The Red Sox went on to claim the World Series title.

"We battled. They got the better of us. A few of the guys on our team were banged up," Bregman said on the "Going Deep with Chad and JT" podcast. "That's not an excuse at all. They played really well and played really good baseball. They're well-coached and have a ton of good players."

The Astros fell to the Red Sox in five games in the ALCS, but were only outscored by seven runs in the series.

Houston came within an impossible game four catch by Andrew Benintendi of a win and had a warning-track fly ball gone a few feet farther, the Astros would have taken a lead in the ninth inning of game two.

Houston, however, beat Boston in the AL Division Series in 2017 on their way to the World Series. A rivalry is brewing and Bregman is here to stoke the fire.

New England's win in the NFL Super Bowl only made him want to beat Boston more.

"After watching the Patriots win and with the Red Sox beating us last year, there's no other city that I would like to beat more this year than Boston," the 24-year-old said.

This is not the first time Bregman has stirred things up with the Red Sox. Before game three of the ALCS, he posted a video on Instagram showing back-to-back-to-back homers the Astros hit off of the game's starter, Nathan Eovaldi, when he was still with the Tampa Bay Rays. Eovaldi answered by throwing six innings of two-run ball in an 8-2 win.

The Red Sox and Astros will face off first in a three-game series starting in Boston on May 17.
