Cubs place star Bryant on DL with shoulder inflammation
The Chicago Cubs placed third baseman Kris Bryant on the 10-day disabled list with an inflamed left shoulder.
The 26-year-old star has not played since June 22 and the move is retroactive to June 23.
Bryant's power is down slightly this season (nine home runs in 264 at-bats) from his career norm, but he is having a solid year at the plate. slashing 280/.383/.481.
In other roster moves on Tuesday, the Cubs placed right-hander Justin Hancock on the 10-day DL with an inflamed shoulder, optioned right-hander Duane Underwood Jr. to Triple-A Iowa and recalled pitchers Luke Farrell and Dillon Maples and infielder David Bote.
