Nationals place Adams on 10-day DL with broken finger
The Washington Nationals placed first baseman Matt Adams on the 10-day disabled list with a broken left index finger, the team announced on Tuesday.
The move is retroactive to June 16. Adams suffered the injury June 15 against the Toronto Blue Jays on a bunt attempt.
Adams, 29, is putting together his best season. He is second for the club in home runs (13), RBIs (36) and OPS (.932).
In better news for the Nats, the team announced relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera is with the team for the game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Washington acquired the Royals closer in a deal that sent prospects Kelvin Gutierrez, Blake Perkins and Yohanse Morel to Kansas City.
Herrera had 14 saves and a 1.05 ERA with the Royals.
