Miami Marlins fans were pleased with their team's new signings. Florida's team acquired the services of two veterans, Yuli Gurriel and Jose Iglesias.

Yuli Gurriel is a two-time World Series champion with the Houston Astros. He also won the 2021 American League Gold Glove Award. He was a regular at first base for the Astros and will look to cover up for All-Star talent Garrett Cooper, who is the only other first baseman on Miami's 40-man roster.

Other backup options include Jordan Groshans and Jerar Encarnacion, who are learning to play at first base only during the ongoing Spring Training.

Jose Iglesias, 33, comes into the Miami Marlins lineup as the primary backup option for shortstop Joey Wendle. He has spent 11 years in the majors playing for six different clubs: the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, LA Angels and Colorado Rockies.

Iglesias, who is also known for his glove work, will provide a right-handed-hitting complement to the lefty-hitting Wendle as part of a healthy rotation system.

MLB fans showed their excitement at the latest Miami Marlins signings as the team looked to bolster its depth as it looks to challenge for the National League East title.

Fans from other teams were left questioning why their team didn't take these options when they had the chance.

However, some fans were skeptical of the approach the franchise was taking as they felt a lot of pressure would be put on some individual stars in the lineup.

Miami Marlins off to a poor start in Spring Training

The Miami Marlins currently have a 1-9 record in the Grapefruit League and sit at the bottom of the table. Their only win this season came after they defeated the World Series champions, the Houston Astros, on Feb. 27. They have had a winless run in Spring Training since then, only managing a draw against the Washington Nationals.

They will face the Washington Nationals again in their next fixture and will look to bring in their new signings to the roster to give them enough practice before the regular season gets underway.
