Giancarlo Stanton broke the Miami Marlins' single-season home run record on Monday.

Stanton blasted his 43rd homer of the MLB season in the first inning of Miami's game against the San Francisco Giants at Marlins Park.

Gary Sheffield hit 42 when he played for the Marlins in 1996.

The one that broke Sheffield's Marlins record was a two-run shot off San Francisco lefty Ty Blach.

Stanton has homered in four straight games and has nine homers this month.

He leads MLB in home runs and his 43 are eight more than the player in second place, New York Yankees rookie Aaron Judge.
