Hosts Slovenia eased past Serbia 92-74 to grab fifth position in the ongoing 38th edition of the FIBA Eur0Basket championship, better known as 2013 EuroBasket. A day earlier, Slovenia suffered a disappointing loss to France in the quarterfinal of the championship and bounced back to win the fifth place classification match and most importantly qualify for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Slovenia took the first quarter 30-16 to lay the foundation for the win. The hosts also took the second quarter 23-19. After the break, Serbia took the third quarter 20-18 but the hosts took the last quarter 21-19 to seal the victory. Nenad Krstic netted 16 points for Serbia while Zoran Dragic top scored for Slovenia with 23 points.

The championship is now in the semifinal stage with France and Spain already in the last four, while Croatia will play Ukraine and Lithuania will face Italy in the two remaining quarter-finals.

The top six teams from 2013 EuroBasket – excluding Spain, as they have already qualified as hosts – will qualify for the 2014 FIBA World Cup. 24 European nations are participated in the ongoing event.
