24th FIBA Asia Champions Cup: ONGC India will face Foolad Mahan of Iran in quarterfinal

ONGC India, the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) representative, will face Foolad Mahan of Iran in the quarterfinal of the ongoing 24th FIBA Asia Champions Cup at Amman, Jordan.

Despite losing all three matches in the preliminary round of the championship, ONGC India entered the quarterfinal of the championship and will face the Iranian giant Foolad Mahan which won all of their match in the preliminary round of the championship.

Below is the final standing of the preliminary round of the championship. After Khas Bronchos (MGL) and San Miguel Beermen (PHI) pulled out of this year’s championship, all the participating teams entered the quarterfinal of the championship.

GROUP A

  1. Foolad Mahan (IRI): (3 win) 6 pts.
  2. ASU (JOR): (2 win / 1 loss) 5 Pts.
  3. Al Hala (BRN): (1 win / 2 loss) 4 Pts.
  4. Al Jaish (SYR): (3 loss) 3 Pts.

GROUP B

  1. Al Rayyan (QAT): (3 win) 6 Pts.
  2. Duhok (IRQ): (2 win / 1 loss) 5 Pts.
  3. BC Kapshagay (KAZ): (1 win/ 2 loss) 4 Pts.
  4. ONGC (IND): (3 loss) 3 Pts.

Below are the quarterfinal fixtures of the 24th FIBA Asia Champions Cup. All the quarterfinals will be played on 19 September 2013.

  1. Al Rayyan vs Al Jaish
  2. Duhok vs Al Hala
  3. Foolad Mahan vs ONGC
  4. ASU vs BC Kapshagay

The FIBA Asia Champions Cup, previously known as the Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC) Champions Cup until 2002, is Asia’s premier club level basketball competition, involving the champion clubs of Asian countries.

It is organised by FIBA Asia and takes place once a year. A total of 10 professional basketball clubs qualify every year from the sub-zones of FIBA Asia.

After Khas Bronchos (MGL) and San Miguel Beermen (PHI) pulled out of this year’s championship, only 8 clubs are participating in the 24th edition of Asia’a premier club level basketball competition.
