5 Greatest Posterizing Dunks on LeBron James

Jayson Tatum dunks on LeBron James

LeBron James is one of the most vicious dunkers the game of basketball has ever seen. He is someone who can dunk at will and is known for putting players on posters. James' arsenal is filled with tomahawks, one-handed slams, alley-oop dunks, windmill.

The 3-time NBA champ has posterized a lot of players in the NBA but sadly, he was put on posters too by some players. Though this doesn't happen very often, when it does, it sends the whole universe into shock. A lot of these posters are relatively newer and is quite understandable as age is catching up to him and he is not the same defender as he once used to be.

Let us look at 5 posterizing Dunks on LeBron.

#5 Steven Adams

The Oklahoma City Thunder visited the Cleveland Cavaliers for a regular-season game in December of 2016. This game was filled with highlight plays but the most impressive was this ferocious dunk from Steven Adams over James.

The Thunder were up by 10 in the third quarter when Adams decided to silence the Quicken Loans Arena crowd with a huge poster dunk. He finished off a pick-and-roll pass from guard Russell Westbrook with a thunderous slam right on top of James.

This is what LeBron had to say post-game when asked about Adams' dunk on him. "I’ve been on both sides of that before. I’ve been dunked on and the other way around. I think that number is higher."

#4 Amar'e Stoudemire

Amar'e Stoudemire is a name that needs no introduction. He was the rookie of the year in 2003 and has played in the NBA for 14-years, averaged 18.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The 6-time All-Star was known for his vicious dunks. LeBron happened to be a victim of one such dunk. In his first season with the Miami Heat, LeBron had a day to forget when the Heat hosted Knicks for a regular season game in December.

In the fourth quarter, with the Knicks down by 9, Amare got a legit poster on LeBron with a one-handed dunk. Though the Heat won the game that night, nobody thinks LeBron would be comfortable discussing that game.

Malcolm Brogdon turned the league upside down when he dunked on Kyrie Irving and LeBron James in the same game. If people haven't heard of Brogdon before this game, they surely have after this. Brogdon, who was awarded the Rookie of the Year later after the end of the 2016-17 season, went up for a nasty reverse jam on the King.

This dunk came in the third quarter with Bucks down by 6. Although the Bucks could not get the win that night, Malcolm definitely sent out a statement to the NBA announcing his arrival in style. After the game, Brogdon had a great quote about his dunk on LeBron. “Honestly, if I looked and saw it was LeBron, I might not even have gone up. He just happened to be there.”

Victor Oladipo put LeBron twice on monster poster dunks. The first instance was when the former was playing for the Orlando Magic. The Magic were 11-20 and hosted the Cavaliers for a regular-season game. The Cavaliers were up by 2 in the third quarter when Oladipo decided to entertain the home crowd with a poster on James off a feed from Elfrid Payton. He soared past the King who tried to block it but failed in his attempt.

This was the second instance LeBron got dunked mercilessly by Oladipo. In his first season with the Indiana Pacers, in the third quarter of game 6 in the First Round of the 2018 playoffs, the reigning Most Improved Player posterized LeBron after going past JR Smith for a vicious slam.

LeBron tried blocking the attempt but Oladipo dunked anyway. The Pacers ran away with the win after blowing the Cavs, 121-87 to level the series 3-3.

#1 Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum puts LeBron on a poster

This is probably a poster LeBron would never want to watch again. The Rookie Jayson Tatum who was named to the All-NBA First Team put LeBron on a vicious poster in the Eastern Conference Finals of the 2018 NBA playoffs.

Jayson Tatum, who put the team on his back in the absence of guard Kyrie Irving, had pretty much carried the Celtics to the Conference Finals with some strong performances in the playoffs. In the game 7 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Tatum did something no one would ever imagine doing it to the King James. In the forth and the final quarter, with the Celtics down by 4, Tatum drove in, took flight and showed no remorse.

It did not end with the poster as he chest-bumped LeBron and stared him down. The TD Garden erupted on seeing the rookie throw it down one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball. The Celtics went on to lose the game, 79-87 and the Cavaliers made it to their fourth straight NBA Finals matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
