Army beat Royal to remain unbeaten in Nepal Basketball League

Departmental team Nepal Army Club defeated Royal Basketball Club 98 – 90 to remain unbeaten in the ongoing Nepal Basketball League 2019 here at Kathmandu, Nepal.

In a tightly contested first match of the day 11 of the league, Nepal Army took the first quarter 27 - 22 while second quarter was even with both Army and Royal scoring 22 points each. Going to the halftime break Army were up by the score 49 – 34 leading by 15 points. After the break Royal Basketball Club tried hard and pushed Nepal Army Club to limit to come back in the game by winning the third and last quarter 29 – 25 and 27 – 24 respectively. But the first quarter deficit proved too much for Royal Basketball club as they lost the match by 8 points.

Ram Krishna Ghatane of Nepal Army Club was declared man of the match for his match-high 26 points and 19 rebounds.

Nepal Army Club has now won all 5 matches they played in the league while Royal Basketball Club have played 4 (win 2 and loss 2) matches.

In the other match of the day, 11 of the league Budhanilkantha Municipality Basketball Club defeated South Siders Basketball Club 76 - 66 with man of the match Saurab Shrestha scoring 21 points, collecting 9 rebounds and making 3 assists for the winning team. Both teams started brightly with scoring 18 points each in the first quarter. But Budhanilkantha took the remaining three quarters 18 – 16, 23 – 17 and 17 – 15 to win the match comfortably.

Total of eight teams are participating the 2nd edition of Nepal Basketball League 2019 which will run from 27 April to 22 June 2019.
