FIBA ASIA Women's Championship: China win bronze and confirm ticket to Turkey 2014

China defeated Chinese Taipei 61 – 53 to win the bronze in the ongoing 25th FIBA Asia Championship for Women at Bangkok, Thailand. With the bronze medal, China will join Korea and Japan to the FIBA World Championship for Women to be played in Turkey from September 27 to October 5, 2014

First quarter was a tie with both teams scoring 11 points each. After the first quarter, China took the remaining three quarters 19 – 15, 16 – 15 & 15 – 12 respectively to win bronze in the 25th edition of the Asian premier women’s basketball championship. Song GAO netted match-high 22 points to help China to qualify for Turkey 2014 while Ping-Jen HUANG top scored with 14 points for Chinese Taipei.

Japan and Korea will play in the final of the championship for the continental honors. A total of 12 teams participated in the 25th edition of the FIBA ASIA Championship for Women which is ongoing at Bangkok from October 27 to November 3, 2013.
