Kevin Durant Shoes

2018 NBA Finals - Game Four

Former two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant is an established superstar player in the NBA and still has a couple of years right at the top of the basketball pyramid ahead of him. Because of his immense popularity tied to the Warriors' rise in fame, tremendous scoring ability and the Nike brand, his signature shoe line, the KD, is an appealing option for casual basketball fans, Golden State Warriors supporters and sneakerheads. As a rookie for the Seattle SuperSonics, Kevin Durant signed the second-largest rookie endorsement deal, behind LeBron James. The second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft declined a more lucrative deal with Adidas to ink a seven-year, $60 million deal with Nike. Adidas' deal on the other hand was reportedly for $70 million and seven years. By the time his first shoe was released, though, the franchise had already made the move from Seattle to Oklahoma City. Despite playing for a small-market team, Kevin Durant was a unique star who remained humble and hungry. His move to the Golden State Warriors did change his image, somewhat, but he has made the best out of it with his improvements on and off the court. Durant has been involved in a number of philanthropic causes tied to education of poor kids in the Bay Area. However, the KD still has not approached the same level as other Nike signature shoe lines, like the Jordan, the LeBron or the Kobe. Part of that can be blamed on his lack of titles in the past, although he is well on his way to emulating LeBron now.

Despite being a basketball shoe, the KD has transitioned to a low-top design, just like the Kobes. Additionally, the shoes are some of the cheapest available options in the Nike signature basketball lineup.

Originally, Kevin Durant shoes were under $100 a pair. That changed with the Nike KD V, when they were raised to $115. The Nike KD VI increased to $130 at the base level and the KD7 went up to $150. While certainly not cheap, the Kevin Durant shoes are more reasonable than the other top basketball shoes from Nike, which are mostly in the $200+ range.

We list every edition of the Kevin Durant shoe below. The sneakers are listed in chronological order - do note the season when it was featured.

Nike Zoom KD1 - 2008

The Nike Zoom KD1 shoes were the very first shoes that Nike designed for the Kevin Durant line. It started as the Seattle Supersoncis franchise relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008 to become the Thunder and with a new city, new name and team colors, Nike rolled out the KD1 in nine different colorways.

Nike Zoom KD2 - 2009

Nike rolled out the KD2 in the following year and updated the design with a strap across the shoe which has been used in most of the later editions as well. This shoe was made keeping in mind Durant's accomplishments of youngest scoring champion, his first NBA All-Star Game selection and more.

Nike Zoom KD3 - 2010

In 2010, the KD3 shoe was the first one to make use of the Flywire technology. This made the shoe lighter to wear but was increasingly durable.

Nike Zoom KD4 - 2011

The 2011 edition of Durant's shoe line was completely unique as far as the design goes. It was a special edition “Nerf” shoe and came with a basketball and court which became very popular at the time. This was also the first time the KD's Aunt Pearl colorway was introduced. Named after his aunt Pearl with whom Durant was very attached and who had recently passed away due to lung cancer, this colorway was a great tribute to her.

Nike KD5 - 2012

In 2012, Nike featured the first high-top edition of the KD. This was also the first time Nike removed the 'Zoom' from the shoe line and just kept it as Nike KD5. Since Durant wanted his shoes to be affordable by the masses, his shoe line always retailed below $100 up until this point. This was the first time Nike increased the amount to above $100.

Nike KD6 - 2013

Nike's KD6 came with a lower top and was best suited for those who needed quick reflexes. The outsole consisted of a hexagonal pattern which helped with the traction.

Nike KD7 - 2014

The Nike KD7 re-introduced the strap from the Nike Zoom KD2. On the tongue of the shoe there were names of four members of his family as well.

Nike KD8 - 2015

In 2015, Nike introduced a shoe featuring Flyweave upper and a full-length Air Zoom panel. This was never used before in any of their other basketball shoes. The shoe also came with creative colorway names such as PB&J, “What The” and Sabretooth Tiger.

Nike KD9 - 2016

In 2016, Durant teamed up with the Splash Brothers in Golden State and his presence immediately helped the franchise win another championship. The KD9 shoe this time featured Flyknit technology and a tapered Zoom Air unit for quickness.

Nike KD10 - 2017

This shoe was remarkable as it was the 10th year anniversary of the KD shoe line started by Nike a decade ago. The KD10 featured Flyknit upper and a new lacing system that added security to the foot.

Nike KD11 - 2018

The KD11 came with a leather wrap around the heel and also a more comfortable sock collar. This shoe was designed more the to likes of Durant's off-court style of shoes.

Nike KD12 - 2019

The Nike KD12 was a different shoe as it featured a combination of a full-length Air Zoom with an upper along with a Strobel which when combined makes it respond better.

Nike KD13 - 2020

The Nike KD13 was designed to allow the wearer to have better movement at the front of the foot. It came with a double-stacked Air Zoom panel and a broken-in upper.

Nike KD14 - 2021

The Nike KD14 featured a completely fresh design and the strap across the front also made a comeback once again. This time though, the strap was slimmer and it featured a full-length Air Zoom panel and a Cushlon foam for better responsiveness.

Nike KD15 - 2022

The KD15 in 2022 introduced a Zoom Air Strobel unit which provides extra cushioning to the wearer. It makes the shoe softer, lighter, and more responsive.
