Lusofonia Games: Basketball probables to train in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 3 (IANS) The senior men and women basketball probables for Team Goa India will undergo a training camp at the Dos Bosco Matunga here Jan 10-18 to prepare for the Lusofonia Games in Goa.

The Lusofonia Games is a multinational, multi-sport event organised by the Associação dos Comités Olímpicos de Língua Oficial Portuguesa (ACOLOP) involving countries belonging to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and also others where there are significant Portuguese communities.

After Macau and Lisbon in 2006 and 2009, respectively, India will host the third edition of the Games Jan 18-29 which will include sports like basketball, athletics, beach volleyball, football, futsal, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball.

Most of the Goa India team probables will be playing for their respective units in Savio Cup, also to be held at Don Bosco, giving them adequate exposure before the competition. After completion of training, the selected players will depart for Goa Jan 19 for the basketball competition which is slated for Jan 23-27.
