NBA 2019-20: Wizards go down to Nuggets on the road

Denver Nuggets v. Washington Wizards
Denver Nuggets v. Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards lost 117-104 to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA on Tuesday night. The game was part of the Wizards' 4 away games in the West.

The Wizards played against one of the top defenses in the league, as well as one of the best teams currently in the league. The team came into this game as the 2nd best offense in the league, but the Nuggets defense was enough to suppress most players. With that being said, here is an analysis of the game.

McRae leads in scoring

Yes, guard Jordon McRae performed well coming off the bench and scored more points than any of the starters. He hit 21 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists, going 9-16 FG and 3-5 3PT. McRae played the most minutes in tonight's game so far this season, which shows that head coach Scott Brooks relied more on him in this game than anyone else. McRae might get a bump in minutes with this type of performance, but don't be surprised if he does not recreate the same stellar performance.

Beal scores 14

Shooting guard Bradley Beal scored just 14 points, going 6-15 FG, 0-2 FT, and 2-10 3PT. After back-to-back hot games, Beal blew cold against the Nuggets. This was also the fewest minutes he has played so far this season. This should be taken with a grain of salt considering the Nuggets are a top team with a great defense, something the Wizards have yet to master. Beal should bounce back in the upcoming games.

Isaiah Thomas shows he is rusty

We all wanted a comeback from point guard Isaiah Thomas, especially when he was named the starting point guard over guard Ish Smith. But it seems like something is still off, as he has been up and down for the most part. He scored just 3 points in the 22 minutes he played and went 1-8 FG, 1-2 FT, 0-3 3PT, with 2 assists. Don't be surprised if Brooks makes a change at point guard and puts Smith as the starting guard soon.

What's next?

The Wizards will play the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night as part of their West coast road-game trip. Tune-in to the game at 9:00 PM ET.
