Russell Westbrook is one of the most electrifying players in the NBA today. He is known for his speed and the aggression with which he destroys the rim. He became the first NBA player in 55 years to average a triple-double over an entire season when he did so during the 2016-17 season.

The brodie then became the first player ever in the history of NBA to average a triple-double over an entire season twice after doing it again in 2017-18. He is one of the most exciting players to watch and plays with high intensity every single night.

He is known as "Mr. Triple Double" for his ability to register triple-doubles on a nightly basis. Let us take a look at the three 50 point triple-doubles from Russell Westbrook's NBA career.


#3 at Denver Nuggets, April 9, 2017

Stat line: 50 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and a steal on 53.1 % shooting

Westbrook posted 41 triple-doubles in the season and equaled Oscar Robertson's longstanding mark before playing their 80th game of the regular season against the Denver Nuggets. Russ also had a game-winning buzzer beater to eliminate the Denver Nuggets from playoffs contention.

The brodie finished the night shooting 17-for-32 from the field, including 5-for-12 from the three-point line. Westbrook was perfect from the free-throw line and went 11-for-11. He also had 16 rebounds and 10 assists in 36 minutes of action.

In the fourth quarter, with 2.9 seconds remaining, Domantas Sabonis inbounded the ball to Steven Adams who passed it to Russ and he drilled down a three-pointer from way downtown to beat the buzzer. He was mobbed by his teammates and he broke the Big O's record for highest triple-doubles in a season.

Stat line: 51 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 2 steals on 38.6 % shooting

The Oklahoma City Thunder started the 2016-17 with a win against the Philadelphia 76ers. Westbrook exploded in the game but fell an assist shy of a triple-double. However, in their match against the Suns, he made sure he got one.

Westbrook tallied 51 points on 17-for-44 shooting. Even though he was not effectively shooting that night, he was aggressive and attacked the rim on several occasions. Thanks to his aggressive approach, he went to the free-throw line 20 times and converted 15 of those.

He also had 13 rebounds and 10 assists on the night and the Thunder won this game in overtime, 113-110. Victor Oladipo had 21 points in the game along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and complemented Westbrook to extend the Thunder's win streak to two games.

The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Dallas Mavericks in a tough road game by one point and Russell Westbrook registered a triple-double. Two nights later, the Thunder were in Orlando to take on the Magic who were coming off a loss against the Toronto Raptors.

It was Russell Westbrook's show as he scored 57 points, along with 13 rebounds and 11 assists to put together a triple-double. Westbrook finished the night shooting 21-for-40 from the field, with a field-goal percentage of 52.5. He also attempted as many as 15 shots from beyond the arc and connected 6 of those.

Enes Kanter had a double-double of his own and the Thunder won this game in overtime, 114-106.
