After winning the title, the Toronto Raptors had a comparatively disappointing season in 2019-20. With an eye on getting back to the summit again, the Toronto Raptors front office headed by President of basketball operations Masai Ujiri is expected to be active in the upcoming 2020 NBA free agency.

On that note, let's take look at five NBA free agents the Toronto Raptors can target this offseason.

NBA Free Agency 2020: Five players the Toronto Raptors could target to improve its roster

#5 Montrezl Harrell

Montrezl Harrell is one of the biggest names in the 2020 NBA free agency. He is an absolute beast on the boards, and his offensive game has improved massively during his NBA career.

Coming off the bench last season, Harrell put up spectacular numbers. He averaged 18.6 PPG and 7.1 RPG in 63 games en route to winning his first career sixth Man-of-the-Year award.

Montrezl Harrell could be a great fit with the Toronto Raptors because he could add some grit in the Raptors' roster. With Nick Nurse and the Toronto Raptors looking for bigs in the NBA free agency, Harrell could be just the man for the job.

#4 Joe Harris

Joe Harris is a monster when it comes to knocking down perimeter shots and spacing the floor. He has also displayed a tendency to put in hard work inside, scoring a career-high 4.3 rebounds per game this season that includes one offensive rebound per game.

The Toronto Raptors are already one of the better 3-point shooting teams in the league, ranking sixth in terms of makes (37.1%), although that could be inhibited by Gasol’s likely departure.

Harris has managed to carve out a starter’s role in the NBA, which might displace either Powell or Anunoby next season.

It’s also possible that a bidding war for Joe Harris could price out the Toronto Raptors. Nevertheless, targeting one of the league’s best 3-point shooters in the NBA free agency is a must for the Toronto Raptors.

#3 Jeff Teague

After spending a year as a backup to Trae Young at the Atlanta Hawks, Jeff Teague could now evaluate his options in the free agency.

The veteran point guard has had some durability concerns, including knee and ankle injuries that sidelined him for a number of games, but could provide the Toronto Raptors with solid experience as a reserve scorer.

Jeff Teague hasn’t been on a competitive team since 2018, but an NBA trade to a team like the Toronto Raptors, who have the right talent, might help him reach his old potential. Given his low trade value, the Toronto Raptors could acquire Teague at the veteran's minimum.

#2 Tristan Thompson

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Washington Wizards

After spending a considerable amount of time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Tristan Thompson will be a free agent this off-season.

Thompson, who is a double-double threat on almost every night, averaged 12 points, 10.1 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 30.2 minutes per game last season. An NBA championship winner with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, Tristan Thompson is athletic enough to defend on the perimeter and also strong enough to bother opposing big men in the paint.

If Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka choose to depart the Toronto Raptors, Tristan Thompson could be a perfect player to don the center role at the franchise. He won't be the cheapest option, but the Toronto Raptors could sign him on a contract worth $6-7 million.

#1 Aron Baynes

Phoenix Suns vs New York Knicks

Aron Baynes has reinvented himself over the past three years to the point that he is now a high-volume shooter on the perimeter. Last season, he attempted 168 three-pointers, shooting a career-high 35.1% from that distance.

He averaged 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game with the Phoenix Suns, which are both career-high numbers. The Toronto Raptors, who need a shooting big next season, may not look beyond Aron Baynes.

As a solid screener and prolific 3-point shooter, Baynes could replace Gasol, whom the Toronto Raptors are likely to lose as an unrestricted free agent this off-season.
